Hello! We are intending to do an extended RV trip down to California next year and I would love to hear feedback on camping and doing Disneyland! Favourite places to stay, pros and cons, things to consider etc.

Are you wanting to really camp or just stay in an RV park? There are a couple RV parks near Disneyland, but I wouldn't really call them "camping" since you're mostly just parking your RV in a concrete jungle. If you're looking for proximity to Disneyland and don't care about the nature aspect of camping though, Anaheim Harbor RV Park is a favorite of some of my friends. It's fairly close to Disneyland and has a shuttle, or at least it used to.

If you want real camping, like out in the wilderness camping, you'll have to expect a bit of a drive. If you've never been to Disneyland before, it's in the middle of the city. Bolsa Chica is fairly nice for beach camping. It's about a 30 minute drive without traffic. Canyon RV Park is inland, but also pretty nice and more nature-centered. I want to say it's about a 20 minute drive without traffic .

Are you thinking of something like Fort Wilderness at WDW? DLR doesn't have anything like that, either owned by Disney or non-Disney but close to the parks. As the pp said, Anaheim is a big city, and the Anaheim Harbor RV Park may be the closest RV park to DLR for now. Or you can choose to stay in a nearby hotel which will allow you to park your RV in their lot (not all hotels allow for this).

There is Dockwieler RV park right at the beach by LAX. It is on blacktop but is feet from the sand. Not sure if you have a tow vehicle to get to DLR. You say Coming down. Are you coming from Northern California? If so hwy 1 has lots of places to camp. Again most you will have to drive to DL.

I recommend Anaheim RV Park, it's the one on Midway. It's a very clean and nice RV park. I don't consider it walking distance by any means (1.5 mi) but there's an ART shuttle stop right by the office and the last time I was there a ticket kiosk nearby or you can Uber (around $7.00 each way) or drive (if you don't mind paying for parking).

There is an elementary school across the street so it does get busy out front during drop off and pick up times. But we're normally in the parks before drop off and don't get back to the RV until well after pick up time!

It is an 'urban' park although there are nice shady trees so it's not 'camping' like FtW by any means. I only WISH DL had a Ft W!!!

There are also Anaheim Harbor RV Park and Orangeland RV Park. I've never stayed at either of those.

Dockweiler is OK, but it's 30 miles straight through LA to DL. Not convenient at all for DL. It's right on the beach which is great, but the sites are very tight and close. You are thisclose to your neighbors. We also found a lot of people who found it necessary for everyone around them to hear their music all day long, although quiet hours at night were observed. With the remodel the hookups are inconvenient for a lot of rigs and the placement of some of the tables can impinge on slide outs. It's also not easy to get reservations unless you book way in advance.
