Campgrounds in CT/NY rte 84

[Fort Friend]

Hello all...Long time reader, first time poster. I was looking for some help from the seasoned campers on this board. We are heading to the Fort on June 17th from the Boston area and wanted to hit the road Friday night for a few hours then stop somewhere to sleep. It would put us somewhere between Danbury CT and Newburgh NY. I'm having trouble finding a campground close to Route 84 that can accomodate a 27' Fifth Wheel without a two night minimum. Any one here know of a decent campground in that area?

First off welcome aboard! I am originally from Massachusetts my self Seems like a rough area to be in just to Boone dock some where so that would be out of the question for me. Could you go a little further to Pennsylvania or New York you might have better luck. I know how traffic can be on a Friday on 84 so that might a stretch.

There is a KOA in Newburg that I have stayed at. Nice campground with very friendly staff. It is fairly easy to find.

It can be risky but you could try to call a campground before you leave and ask for a spot as you are on the road, by then they would know what they need for the weekend and should have overnite spots available. As said before there is a KOA in Newburgh, not sure of anything else in that area.
