Campground Cancellations

Hi- Is there any area where people might post their resort cancellations? I am trying to extend our stay in January to include New Years Eve. I have been calling daily to see if anything has come available, but gosh... what a pain!!! Anyway, I thought other people might benefit as well if there was a cancellation thread. Anybody?

I have wondered the same thing. I wanted to add a day at the end of our November vacation. Our reservation is military rate and I have been calling daily to try to add--with no luck. CMs are nice and always say just keep calling somebody may cancel. Maybe once others see this it might get the word out!!

The folks here are pretty good about letting others know when they are going to cancel their ressies. They usually post a new thread with the dates in the headline or a big CANCELLING CAMPSITE. I've seen several posts telling us when they would be cancelling so anyone looking for those dates would have a head's up.

Just keep checking. I used the online reservation system to check and then called to change my reservation. Hope you get what you are looking for,

It really doesn't seem like it would be very effective. The probablility that you would be able to pick up somebody's reservation that they cancelled the day before is pretty remote, plus we probably only represent only a percentage of the people who camp at FW, meaning there are probably a lot more people calling for reservations that could possibly pick up the reservation before you.

I followed the advice of another poster and made a completely new reservation online. I had to make it for significantly longer than what I wanted, but after I canceled the old one I was able to call and take off a few days on the new reservation. It worked like a charm. Otherwise, I would still be calling every day trying to get 2 more nights added.

I know it is a long shot....but so is calling once or twice a day to see what is available for that split second the CM is checking for you. I saw the same advice about checking online for different/longer days (and have also been trying that daily)...but for the really prime days it is just so hit or miss. It seems like anything semi-organized would help. I am not totally out of luck. I do have reservations at Riverside for the 31st & 1st. Then at FW for the following 20 nights. Really hate to board our "pirate princess" Daisy Mae for those 2 nights plus have to move. Of course that sounds like a complaint.... and we are so blessed to to even be able to go asoften as we do! Well - if anyone knows anyone who is unlucky enough to have to cancel their New Years stay at the campground....I would love to know!
