We are planning 1 day at MK in June. Considering touring strategies. Seems as if rope drop is not a good way to "get ahead of the crowd" unless staying on property.

Please share your feedback on reserving a spot at the least expensive campground option as a way to get the 30 min prior to official open park entry.

I think it's just a matter of dividing the cost of the camping site by the number of people staying and looking at it as an "add-on" cost like G+ or ILL, except instead of making a ride reservation, we'd be getting the opportunity to rope drop as early as we can wake up and get in line.

I asked in the dining forum, but I'll also ask here too: are there any pre-park open dining options at MK anymore that may provide some early touring advantage?

Have you check to see if a campsite is even available for one night in June?

IIRC, at one time people were reserving campsites for week-long stays during *free* dining but never staying there. They got dining credits for everyone on the reservation, usually maxing out the number of guests on the reservation. They also got EE and late night EMH and free parking. That loophole got closed when *free* dining got eliminated at the campgrounds.

What you're proposing will work if you can book a single night. But I'm sure that if you asked this on the camping forum, you would get a lot of push back. Campsites are hard to come by and someone booking a campsite but not using it is frowned upon.

Just go to the reservation page and see whats avaliable. It will tell you the options.
