I've tried online several times to go ahead and book my campsite for next December's trip and can't get availability for ANY length of time in December of 2006. Is the camground already booked up, or is the online engine just not accepting December campground ressies yet??

Anybody tried on the phone??

Carol

I mady my ressies for December 2006 in October 2005 and had to call Central Reservations three different times to get the dates we wanted (Dec. 3 through December 16) All I can tell you is to try different times and days and you might get lucky. We got AAA discount - full hookups - $42.00 per night - tax included.

I just came back from 13 wonderful nights a FW. I was told that Christmas week is fully booked but I would keep trying ressies do tend to open up. Also they have changed how far in advance you can book it is now 500 days out.

Just called this week and had my choice of types of campsites for xmas weekend next year. Had no problem getting it. You might want to give them a call 800-828-0228.

Yup, found the same thing when booking far ahead. You can't online, and they only open up so many spots at a time. Keep calling!

I made my reservations two weeks ago for 2006 Christmas. I was only able to get a preferred site for 10 of my 22 day stay. The rest, I have to work on for the rest of the year trying to upgrade from a partial hook-up to the preferred. They said that they are almost completely booked ...... with the exception of the partial hook-ups. In all the years we have been going, we've never had this hard of a time securing a reservation that far in advance.

I was getting nervous reading the posts and went ahead and made my reservations today over the phone. I had no problems getting a preferred site for the week of Christmas, Dec. 22-29th. Hope everyone else has the same luck.

I called the first week of Dec 2005 and booked a site. I monitored the web site for a week or two to see what was available. As soon as there were no more full hook up sites online, we decided to make ressies and called the next morning to see if CRO could help. The CM commented that FW fills up fast and that Disney should expand the campground because it is popular. That would be sooooo cool! :smooth:

My ressies are for Dec 23 to Dec 30 '06. Have you considered requesting a specific loop? My family wants close to the trading post.

We booked our res for Christmas 06 in Nov 05 without much research after seeing a map we tried to upgrade to a preff loop dec 26th and the campground I was told was booked only cabins avail I hope I posted this right it's a first post and only our 2nd trip to Disney Can't wait to celebrate Christmas w/ the mouse

After reading this thread, I decided to go ahead and book for next December. We got Dec. 20 - 29 in a preferred site. The price almost gave me a heart attack though - $92 a night for CAMPING?????? If I hadn't already been to the campground 5 years ago, I would never have agreed to camp anywhere for that price. But - I can't face the idea of going back to a hotel room with no place to relax but sitting on the beds with 3 kids. So, its back to the campground we go!!!!!!!

We're already planning for Dec. 2007!! We want a preferred pet loop (300) and are staying for 2 weeks. I think once we hit that 500 mark, I'm going to be calling to reserve my little piece of heaven! :sunny: I still have to decide whether we are going to do the week after Thanksgiving (we would leave PA on the Sat after Thanksgiving) or the following week (the first of Dec). ::yes::

This is where a little planning comes in when staying at Fort Wilderness. Had you moved your reservation up one day (arrive on the 19th) you would have saved money.

December 20 is the first day of "Holiday Season", the highest rate classification. Arriving on the 19th places your reservation in "Pre-Holiday Season" and prices every nite of your stay at the Pre-Holiday Season rate.

Disney hotel pricing is always based on the rate for the first nite of your reservation. That price carrys through the entire reservation, even if rates change.

In you case above it would work to your favor; get the "Pre-Holiday" price for the entire stay. When booking the reverse (i.e. starting in a high priced season and staying into a lower price season) you actually need to make two reservations. Lets say you start a vacation on August 3, 2006 (Regular Season) and are staying until August 11 (which is in Value Season). You would make two reservations :
  1. August 3 - August 5
  2. August 6 - August 10 (checking out the morning of the 11th)

You would then pay Regular Season price for 3 nights and Value Season rates for 5 nights. The only downside is you have to go to the reception outpost on the morning of the 6th to check out and check back in.

So, with all my rambling on can you move your reservation up one day?

Thanks for the heads-up, Tim5055. I just called in and actually managed to get the reservation changed to the 19th - 30th - now I have 11 nights for a total of $686.84 rather than the 9 nights I was paying $918 for. They couldn' tell me the daily rate, but looks like it breaks down to $62.44/night with tax for a preferred site. When I made the reservation the other day, they told me the 19th wasn't available - but looks like it opened up.

Now I just have to hope that the kids are out of school in time - we don't have next year's calendar yet.

Glad I could help.

YOu can call and just credit the $200 savings onto my next reservation :teeth:

Well, I broke down and called and got December 2nd through the 16th in a partial hookup site at AAA rate. I had to make two reservations as the max on AAA is 10 nights, but I've never had to move when I've had split reservations, so it's not a big deal.

It's weird, because I can't get the Disney website to bring up a campsite at any level for any number of nights for December 2006.

Can't wait, this will be my longest stay ever at Disney!!!!!

But really, for the RADP and Mousefest you need the extra time to actually do attractions. That way I can concentrate on sociallizing during Mousefest!!!
