We have been doing a seasonal site at the Lake George RV Park in the Adirondack mountains of NY. We live on Long Island and my husband has hated towing off the island..it is the worst. This is why the past 2 seasons we have been seasonal. We love the place and my younger son has made quite a few friends that are also seasonal.
However...I am longing to go to Ft. Wilderness. We have our TT 5 seasons now..and we keep saying we're gonna go..but my husband has a difficult time getting at least 2 weeks vacation together..which is what we figured we'd need in order to get to Disney and back..and still have a decent amount of time there. We have made tentative plans.(sent my deposit for mid to late August. ) Having second thougts about the seasonal site..as we have done it for past two seasons and they have raised the price quite a bit each year. Would love to be able to do more traveling with the unit. We are in the stage of deciding what to do as the seasonal site opens up the first weekend in May..and we would be bringing our TT back up then. The next few weeks will tell. Still thinking it over. Keeping on site lets the kids and I use the unit more..as I take them even when husband is working..and then he comes up on weekends.
Anybody else seasonal at a campground? How long did you or have you been doing it?

This is our first season with our TT and we are seasonal in Cape May NJ. Boy, we had a really hard time finding a campground with seasonal sites available and we started looking last July. Our season is from May 1st to Nov. 1st and cost $3500.00. If you don't mind saying what is your cost and dates?

Our season at the Lake George RV Park starts May 7th..and ends Columbus Day weekend..that Monday. I think that is about the 12th of October or so. They seem to be shortening the season a couple of weeks each year. I believe we are paying around $4200.00...I'm pretty sure we started out at 3800. and they raised the rate a couple of hundred each year. If we go with it again..this will be our third year as seasonal. We like it very much...just getting a little bored ...as it is really an RV Resort...no tent camping. They have entertainment nightly..only we've seen it all..and they don't appear to be booking anything new. It reminds me visually of Ft. Wilderness...as the roads are all paved.Which my kids liked for bike riding. It was great when my daughter was younger as they offered trolley service to the local shopping outlets..so if she brought a friend they could go off on their own and not have to be driven around. Only now she will be 17 next month and doesn't really come to often. I think she only came twice last year. My 12 year old has made a couple of close friends...he loves it...have to hunt him down to find him. Only he would love to do Disney also. Hard to decide...especially when we don't know if my husband will be able to get the time need to go to Florida. Have considered a campground in CT. called Strawberry Park...have you been there...they have seasonal sites for about the same money..but are actually open all year.Have camped there before we did the Lake George..and they have tons of activities going on. Nice Place. Only my husband hated trailering on I-95...always road work..that is when we found the Lake George RV Park.
Is Cape May near the Beaches...is your campground near them?I am not that familiar with New Jersey.

Yes, Cape May is the southern most point in NJ. Our campground is a 5 min. drive to the beach. Cape May is a beautiful Victorian town. Just driving to the beach is a joy because of all the old Victorian homes. There are trolly tours of the town. Across the street from our campground is Cold Spring Village, a farm village from the 1850's. In Cape May you can also visit the light house and there is a very nice zoo. You can also go to Sunset Beach and see the ship SS Atlantus, a concrete ship that sunk there. On Sunset Beach you can find tons of Cape May diamonds. They are clear rocks and when shined they are beautiful and look like diamonds. You can also take a ferry boat to Lewes Del. where there are alot of outlet stores. We are not far from Wildwood and that's fun for the kids because of the boardwalk. They like the rides and games. DH and I prefer the beach. :D

This is our first summer with our new TT. We were going to get a seasonal site in Cape May NJ but since we are going to WDW in June(planned the trip before TT and not using it anyway) we decided to just get a long weekend per month. We have a long weekend the weekend after Easter at Beachcomber campground then in May a weekend in Seashore campground then in July back to beachcomber for christmas in July then August back to seashore campground. Then perhaps in September back to WDW to use the TT in FW.

We just got our TT last year and only used it for one week and that was at Beachcomber. We liked it there and looked into getting a seasonal site for this year but there were non available. We are staying at Cape Island for the season.

auntie
We have stayed at the Lake George Rv Park several times over the years. Their rate is high in general, higher than FW. It's nice to visit, but I wouldn't want to commit to a seasonal. We choose to try different campgrounds throughout the season. We love Sugar Ridge RV park in Danville, VT, but it is very popular and hard to get into. We have made ressies 2 yrs in advance. We have been to FW several times and it is by far our favorite RV park anywhere and the rates are very reasonable and comparable to many RV parks that we frequent. 2 wks is a good length of time to drive down and see the parks. There is room for down time. We still haven't seen everything that FW has to offer, but we will keep going back until we do... if that's possible.

Ft. Wilderness is really very reasonable as far as campgrounds go.. I know the Lake George RV Park is really getting crazy with the rates. I probably wouldn't be doing the seasonal if my husband were able to get a bit more time off..doing the seasonal does allow us to just go up after work on a Fri..and come home Sun..which is something he wouldn't do if he were towing..with the diffiucutly invloved with traffic on Long Island. That is sort of why we got into the seasonal to begin with. We made much more use of the TT that way. However...for the rates they charge..and as you indicated..that are higher than Ft. Wilderness...if we do the seasonal ..this will probably be the last year. Heard from another family who are seasonal also..and indicated that this is there last season..so it will be a bit easier to break away for my younger son(12) if he knows his friend won't be there either. My older son is a police officer...and has sometimes 3 days off, so he was looking forward to being able to use the seasonal site also. I guess I'm just getting a little bored myself..and pining away for Ft. Wilderness...reading all the wonderful post here. I'd like to do both...you know us moms..always trying to make everyone happy!

I belong to IRV2.com, an online camping group, and we have our first rally of the year planned for June..a pigroast in Vt!
We have about 26 families coming so far (and we all met online!!). We have a great time together. We just keep growing, and have everything from truck camper, pop ups, fifth wheels, motor homes and tag alongs. We range in age from a few months to well passed retirement. If you go to the site, we are the Nor Easters, at the bottom of the forum area. Of course we are also known as the Nor Eaters, because of all the food we have at rally's. If you have never rally camped, this is a must try!!

Other than that outing, we have a week in July at a small campground called Howell's in Arlington Vt, and some weekends in the Lake George area (Warrensburg), as well as a weekend at Turning Stone Campground (we don't gamble, but we love their campsite). We are Coast to Coast memebers too, so we'll spend a bit of time in our home campground and a couple of C2C campgrounds.
