Yes, I have heard of the projects. Don't get your panties in a bunch! But I am saying that you emphasized over and over it is $6k, it is $6k....yea, got it.....But when I read the other threads on this board, about 8 months emergency fund etc.....Not saying that you aren't independtly wealthy or whatever. I really don't care. But your attitude is that your kids HAVE to go to camp. I am just waiting for your post in another 2 or 3 months whining that you have no money, etc.......That is the problem with a lot of kids/families. The feeling that they are entitled and must go to a camp or somehow their lives are over.
I really don't care what you do with your money or your kids. That IS your business, but sorry I can't muster up any kind of sympathy for a SAHM who gets to send her kids to a $6k camp, necessary or not, and then b****** and moans about doing laundry......

The emphasis on the cost was because they only included 1 shirt!! ANd I have never said my kids HAVE to go to camp. They go because they love it and it can be paid for. Will they go next year...I don't know..that decsion will be made in August, just like it is every year.

Hey..I can whine now that I have no money if I want too....who says I should wait!!

And you think it was ok to tell 99% of the board that where they live is SO inferior to where you live? OY VEY......... That is somehow ok? Glad you are proud of who you have become. Wonderful.

I never said that where anyone else lived was so inferior to where I live. I live in NJ...not NYC. ANd I said that NYC is CULTURALLY SUPERIOR to other cities..

Shall I list what NYC has to offer the USA?? My current state doesn't come close. Neither does any of the other 5 states I have lived in.

Hard to say. We need more information.

How much is the camp and what do they do?

If you spend too much money for the camp, then you're bad. Please don't ask how much is too much. The OPs camp is $6000.00 for the summer. My camp is $200.00 for the summer. We're both in the bad box. I guess the “right” price for camp is $199.99.

If you've spent too much for the camp, but the kids remain on site the whole time, then you may be able hop into the good box.

Now, if you happen to be a SAHM and your kids attend camp, then there's a special super bad box just for you.

Amen!! It's like if it doesn't exist in "your" corner of the world, well it just must be wrong, and obviously needs correcting.

I don't know anyone from NYC/Northern Jersey. I've learned on the DIS that a lot of things up there are different. Not better or worse, just different.

One other thing I'd like to say is, we all spend money our own way. I dont' spend a lot on camp, but I'm the first to say I spend a lot in other ways that people here would no doubt pick apart.

I am still amazed that this thread is going on . Nobody said that the OP was a Bad Mother for sending her children to camp.

Wrong..the implication was there by the posts saying why do I send my kids to camp at all if I was a SAHM. That questions the type of mom I am.

Alot of people could not understand why first of all if she can afford the camp why washing a load of clothes was too much money for her to waste and why she couldn't just pay the money for the extra shirt.

I could do laundry..I can and do do laundry.. I can pay for an extra shirt, and plan on doing so. When I first vented I wasn't aware they were for sale, since I felt and still do feel they camp should have provided more shirts for what they charge. ANd my issue with the laudnry was since my laudnry is done for Monday...I didn't watn to waste water or soap on a few items. Silly me for wanting to conserve. ...shoot me. I don't do loads that aren';t full. It's a waste. Same with my dishwasher.

She was not getting the kind of sympathy she was hoping so now has changed it into a whole Camp debate.

I didn't do this...others did...I just joined the fray since I love conflict so much!

She obviously enjoys conflict and is enjoying every minute of this especially now that she finally has the sympathy she wanted.

I didn't want sympathy.. I wanted to vent. What I didn't want and didn't expect was to be crusified on the DIS for sending me kids to camp, its cost and not wanted to wash 1 shirt in a washing machine. And I don't enjoy conflict...not at all. But I will not be attacked and sit here and take it. I am a fighter not a victim, even on a public message board.

Also the whole reasont he SAHM thing was even brought up was because if she is home all day why can't she do laundry. Also the whole reason they cost was brought up is she posted over and over again the cost of the camp.

Let's say again...yes my DD camp fee is six thousand dollars...let's hang me in effigy!!

I am a SAHM and if my kids want to go to camp they will but I won't then whine for days about washing shirts nor will I throw up over and over again how much it costs but thats just me.......

No actually you whined and whined and came up with 100 different reasons why you are just can't do the laundry and why it is such a huge inconvenience. I don't care if you pay 50,000 for a Camp it does not impress me nor do I care if you send your kids to camp. You were not getting the result you wanted about people not feeling sorry for a SAHM having to do laundry so now turned the whole thing around. I also notice from other threads going on you enjoy the conflict!

No one ever said you only had to wash one shirt at a time. Surely there would be other clothes to wash (items worn that day) that you could wash with the camp shirt and put the setting on LOW and you will not waste water. Then that would be less to wash on the weekend and therefore you are still saving water because you did some of the wash on a day other than Saturday.

I agree! This "regional" or "provincial" attitude seems very prevalent on the disboards (especially on the wedding threads!) I'm not referring to specific posters on this thread! Reading the dis, I have learned quite a bit about how other regions, areas, etc. deal with different things. Like you said, things aren't better or worse in other areas-they are just different!!

The only person attempting to come off superior is YOU. You think that they way your life in the South is the best. That what you feel kids should do is better! You have made judgement after judgement about our livestyles and about how bad camps are for kids.

And btw...NYC does have more to offer culturally then any other city in the USA! That is a fact..it is a wonderful city chock full of things to do culturally and non culturally. A wonderful melting pot of poor, rich, and everything inbetween. There is no place like it elsewhere!! It is wonderful!


Yes..NYC, all five boros are culturally superior to Alabama and another other place in the good ole USA!

I can tell you that Boston gives NYC a run for their money. We have some of the best theaters around noy only that we have the north end, china town, southie and all of it in between.
