What kind of cameras do you all take to the park with you? Real cameras or just cell phones?

I usually travel with my big DSLR, but then I've never really been on a vacation with KIDS before! I don't know that I'll be able to wrangle two little ones and a big camera at MK!! I can just see it getting broken, dropped, left somewhere... or me lugging it around and not using it. I don't want anything detracting from the family fun!

We didn't buy the photo package since we only have one park day. But I'd still like to have something higher quality than cell phone pictures, I think.

Should I just take my cell phone for candids then buy individual shots from the park photographers?

You could always get a small point and shoot. There are some good ones out there that are reasonable.

I bring my dslr but I will carry it for the first few days, get pictures and after that I don't carry it as much.

I hate phone pictures so I avoid them other then texting a picture or putting on Facebook.

I too carry my DSLR with a good walk around lens. I don't even bring the case into the parks anymore just a large enough zip lock in case it starts to rain.

I bring my DSLR every day into the parks. I don't want to have a moment I want to capture and only have a cell phone camera with me. I guess that would be my concern. If you would be disappointed if you were only able to take a special picture using your cell phone camera then take the DSLR so you won't have regrets....if pictures from the cell phone camera would be adequate enough for you, then go with the lighter load. Keep in mind that PP photogs are not everywhere in the parks. They are mostly with characters and at predetermined locations. If there is an impromptu moment, or random scenery you want to take a picture of, you most likely will not find a photographer.

I use my iPhone for candids and buy the Memory Maker (one of my two souvenirs every trip). I've taken my large camera before, but it was such a hassle always working around it in the backpack and finding a good placement for it on rides. I'm much happier with the "Less is more" philosophy. Before my daughter was born, I very rarely needed any type of bag, so skipping bag check was great!

I normally carry both. I tend to use my cell phone more but I like to have both.
