I am trying to decide if bringing our digital camera into the parks is smart or not. We like water rides and I would hate for the camera to get ruined. Should we get disposable water proof cameras for inside the parks? Or just put on a rain poncho and hope for the best. Its hard because our digital holds over 500 pics. This is probably a silly question. Can you tell I have less than 8 days before we go and I am starting to get freaky according to my DH.

Put the camera in your backpack during a wet ride.

If you're not carrying a b.p., put the camera into a ziplock bag during a wet ride. A ziplock can be carried in a pocket, purse or fannypack.

Leaving day after tomorrow and I'll be putting my small camcorder and point & shoot 35mm into the backpack when we ride Splash. DH won't ride Kali, so he can take care of them then. If I did take them on Kali, they'd be inside the ziplock inside the backpack.

We just booked a "Capture the Magic : photo Event" with Gifts of a Lifetime and are really excited about doing this with disabled DD as we have been 3 times to Disney and have yet to get great photos. Hoping someone else can "Capture the Magic" for us. we want that photo in Dumbo, and of us all infront of the Walt statue and castle...... It's only 90 minutes so I think we'll only get a few rides in with crowds... We're going Nov. 12 for it.
Has anyone else had any experiences with this sort of thing in the parks?

We bring both digital cameras to the parks and do not have a probem with them getting "hurt". Relax. :)

I always carry my digital in a leather camera case on my belt. On Splash Mountain, I try to keep my arm over it; on Kali River I put it in the middle storage bin. Never a problem.

I am leaving for WDW in three weeks and plan to bring my digital camera as well. I would like to take great pics of the parks and such but I don't want to lug it around all the time, so I think I will only take it for one or two days, with a tripod and lenses, to get really good pics, then I'll take my 35mm point and shoot for the rest of the trip (whcih happens to be water proof).

Be careful! Just keep an eye on your camera, make sure it doesn't "walk off" and try not to sit on it during rides! It's not a bad idea to bring an extra memory card, in case something happens to the first one, and don't forget to charge the batteries!
