I know this has been discussed, but can't find it. We are taking a digital camera, but also a film camera. How do we handle the film? Do the x-ray machines hurt it if it is in checked luggage?

Thanks.

if it's in checked, yes, it will be destroyed.

the xrays used at security checkpoint vary, but as a general rule, anything less than 800 is okay, but if you want to be safe, you can always keep it all in a clear plastic bag at the top of your carryon and pull it out and request a hand check.

the effects are also compounded, so to minimize any potential problems, buy film at your destination.

Do not put anything in your checked bags that you don't want to lose. I never put any electronics, camera equip. in the checked bags...just too much temptation for those baggage people. I'm sure the majority of them are good, honest people, but unfortunatly there are bad apples everywhere.
Put all your camera/electronic stuff in your carryon bag. I like to put it all in one big zip-loc baggie. The only thing I have had to take out was the video camera...that had to come out and be swiped down both coming and going on our last trip to WDW.
Your film should be fine...but just to be safe, pack it in a baggie all it's own and ask to have them hand check it as bradk said.
