Did LOTS of research before going to Disney 2 weeks ago, and settled on the Sony DSC-HX20V (check it on Amazon)- the pictures and videos were amazing, and did great without a flash in low light. Is 18.2 MP, and good zoom!

I love my Canons. I used to be all Sony, but both DSC models I have take fantastic outdoor shots, but are lousy indoors, no matter what the lighting conditions.

I'll 3rd this camera. We went with the HX30V instead of the 20V but it only gives you wifi capability - otherwise same camera. It has been awesome. Amazing photos in light and dark, and probably the best part of it is that it replaces our video camera too. This thing shoots in full HD 1080 video, the zoom works when recording video (very nice feature), and you shoot in panorama (for wide-screen tvs - most are these days), plus it has a stabilizer for those of us who aren't surgeons.
Should be able to pick it up for about $300, or if you like package deals, check it out on buydig.
I had a Nikon Coolpix and it was AWFUL but I'm told it was just the model I had and the rest of the line was decent. Personally I'd go for a Canon or an Olympus.
The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 has a lot of good press but its very expensive. To spend a little less, you can go with something like the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX7, Nikon Coolpix P7700, or the Canon PowerShot G15. It's really hard to give advice without knowing a price range or feature set you're looking for
