I am a photo lover...will be purchasing the memory makers photo "package" but there are so many other photo ops and candid shots I don't want to miss out on...not to mention in our 10 days there, we will only be in the parks 5 days. Soooo....I am trying to decide which camera/cameras to bring.
I currently have a Nikon D5100 (DSLR), Olympus Tough 820 (which is waterproof) as well as a panasonic point and shoot (not waterproof) and my iphone 5s.

Our Vacation: We are doing a 4 night Disney Dream cruise and a week and half of WDW after the cruise. It is our first cruise ever (DH, DS- 11,7,2 and DD9). Staying on the ship at Nassau, getting off at CC. It is DS2's first trip to WDW.

I was thinking of bringing the Nikon DSLR and the Olympus waterproof camera (and if course I will have my iphone along anyway).

What did you take, did you wish you had more, less, what did you use most...was the DSLR too much to carry around all day at the parks? Were the quality of the pictures worth having it? any thoughts, advise would be greatly appreciated!!

We are also going to WDW for ten days and will be purchasing the Memory Maker but I will also bring my camera. I take a lot of pictures, I'm a scrapbooker. I don't like a big camera, I go for an easy point and shoot. I have a Nikon Coolpix which I really like. It's light and easy to use.

Thank you! I don't really want to have to lug around the big camera...but I also much prefer the pictures over my point and shoot camera! Aggghhh...such a hard decision! Why can't they just make point and shoots that have a the picture quality of a SLR!! :confused3

I brought my DSLR and point and shoot. Mostly, I carried the DSLR into the parks but had a few days that I brought a Panasonic lx5 when I wanted to lighten up. The DSLR I wore cross body on a Crumpler strap so it was handy. If you are used to the DSLR, you may be disappointed in point and shoot photos.

I think this is just personal preference. I would have never wanted to lug around a DSLR. I'm not too bothered that some of my point and shoot shots and phone pictures didn't come out the best because I made sure to take lots of pictures. I carried a small bag for all of our stuff, smaller than any DSLR bag I've seen and that was as much as I would have wanted to carry.

I had this dilemma for my trip last October. I had the Photopass . . . which is now Memory Maker. I decided to take my P&S camera. Best decision for us. I usually wore something with pockets, so I could easily grab it and take pictures. My DH used his phone on occasion to get photos. I can't imagine taking a bigger camera, so for me it worked well.

I was very happy with the Disney photographers.

Enjoy your trip.

I have taken my Canon dSLR on the last two trips. I have a sling strap for it which makes it both easy to carry and convenient to take pictures with. Disney vacations are so magical, I wouldn't want to have my good camera at the ready!
