Camera Suggestions

Hi Everyone - I am looking for good camera suggestions. I will be in DW in October and would like a good camera to bring with me to capture all of the character meet and greets with the kids.

I am looking for a decent priced digital camera with low shutter lag (time between pressing the button to when the picture is actually taken) usually the kids have moved before the actual picture has been taken. I am hoping to spend no more than $250.

does anyone have any suggestions?

Most of the current point and shoots don't have major shutter lag issues. And many are great cameras. It comes down to the features you want. Check out dpreview.com . It's a great place to research current cameras.

Generally you are looking for a fast autofocus speed, as that is why the camera has to do before the camera can take the picture. So look at the autofocus speeds when comparing specs at dpreview.com

Autofocus speeds are different depending on lighting conditions, so you usually see speeds listed for bright and dim conditions. When I did my research in the travel zoom category, it seemed Sony and Panasonic had the best overall autofocus speeds. But Sony is generally more expensive, you might find an HX10 near your price range. I think Panasonic would have more options.

The Canon S95 and S100 are great. You may be able to find a good deal on one that would place it in range.
