How well does it function if you are carrying something else on your shoulder/back?

Pretty good... I usually hang my camera off my neck and my camera bag off one shoulder. By the end of the day, I'm moving around the bag a bit, and it was not uncommon for me to be waiting for the bus with the bag bandoleer-style over one shoulder, the tripod over another, the camera around the neck (or maybe even bandoleer-style) - I looked like Rambo going into battle!

It also makes it very important to make sure that I remove everything in the right order!

I have seen a lot of ppl recomending the OP/Tech Strap, but there seem to be quite a few different ones. Which one would be best for a Canon Xsi at Disney? Thanks

Well for general use I would get the 3801332 in black, but for Disney I would get the 1519012 in forest green, unless you are going to be going before labor day in which case you are out of luck cause you can't get it in white.

Personal preference, really. Try to find them at a store and try them out. They do have a guide on thier site which says what type of cameras the straps are meant for.

i'd go with the pro strap...the pro loop strap was to short for me and i'm only 5' 7" .i wanted to be able to put it across my chest for a while if since i didn't want to have wear it around my neck all the time and never feel safe just putting it on my shoulder... the pro loop was uncomfortably short for that. i ended up buying new pro strap connectors and now i like it but wish i had bought the pro the first time. for some stupid reason i bought burgundy..it's uglykind of dayglo burgundy, wish i had gone with navy or black. i have a rebel xt so same basic body. it does make a huge difference, eps if you have a larger lens on it.

This is what I use.....

Although I purchased it from the Nikonians Pro Shop, it's basically the Pro Strap from Op/Tech. I also use the optional Swivel Hook Connectors from Op/Tech that allows me to connect my camera to my backpack harness D-rings when I want to keep it off of my neck.

It's a very comfortable strap.

Pro Loop.

I did notice something interesting recently. I have the black Pro Loop, and we recently got a red Pro Loop when I got my K20D and the K100D became the backup/wife's camera. (And the DL had the original strap put back on before being sold to a friend. )

Anyway, the red strap's neck portion is shorter on the edges than the black one! I'm not sure why this is, I can only assume that there's some other difference going on, but I'm not sure what. I got mine from the RIT photography store a couple years ago and the red was off eBay, but by all indications is a "real" Op/Tech.

Anyway, it's enough to make a fairly noticeable difference in how long the overall strap is.

(I don't see any info on them online, so no links for you, sorry...)

I have the pro loop and it is quite short. Great strap, just short.
If the Pro is longer (as folks here have said) it sounds like a winner.

JimbobJimbo, thanks for asking the question. I have been searching for a strap lately too. I have also read the recommendations for the OPTECH, but never knew which one. I have been meaning to post this same question, but I am a procrastinator...

I went to a local camera shop and tried on all the different OP/Tech straps. There are a bunch of different ones and the one I ended up with is IIRC the Pro. It was the longest one they had and I know it wasn't a loop one. I didn't like the loop ones.

Is anyone besides me concerned about the quick disconnects? I had one disconnect at the wrong time and now I put a Tyrap or zip tie through them to prevent such disasters.

yu can get the connector replacements for around $10, so about 1/2 the price of a new strap

I like the quick disconnects (if I am going to handhold the camera for a while, I unstrap the neck portion, strap that part around a belt loop or camera bag strap, and put the short ends together, which act as a poor man's wrist strap)... but they can be dangerous.

On my last trip, my son unsnapped mine while we were waiting in line at Sunshine Seasons in The Land in Epcot, and I wasn't able to grab it before the whole thing slipped off me. The strap was pinched between my son and I so it came down a little slow, but still quick enough to send me new K20D onto the hard floor! Fortunately, it landed on the metal lens hood of my 105mm lens, no damage done... but yikes! So, I'm pretty careful about that now.

He did unsnap it again later in the trip (despite my attempts otherwise) but I was able to grab it this time before anything happened. Despite all this, I definitely like having the QR clips available.

i've never had it happen but doesn't sound like a bad idea as preventive medicine. or maybe some flashy duct tape would do the trick

Never had a quick connect on the camera strap fail.... although I did have the "non" quick connect, connection on my camera bag fail while I was walking throught he airport... I'm still at a loss as to why a camera bag would have a pivot point that was made of plastic.... I now pay more attention to the details in how my camera bag is made especially since it normall is having to support more weight than the camera strap.

I am looking to buy a comfortable strap for my Canon Rebel. I have seen the Op tech strap mentioned quite a bit. I know there are many different types of this strap. Can someone recommend a particular one that would work well for an upcoming WDW trip. I would really appreciate any info. Thanks.

You will want one with the neoprene shoulder strap. They make several versions and colors. From there it is personal choice.

Another vote for the OP/Tech Pro Loop. I've only had it a few days but it sure does make a difference.

The loop part refers to how it attaches to the camera. The loop is much faster to attach than a traditional one.
