hope it is Okay to ask this here

Santa is bringing all 6 kids cameras for x-mas but I have no idea what to get them. I want to keep it about $100 each. Video would be great but I know that is asking a lot. They don't have to be the same brands either.
Jason will be 13 but is more like a 7 yr old due to autism
Avy is almost 11 and blind in one eye so she will need a big screen on hers, bonus points if it comes in purple :hippie:
Christian is 9, Hayden is 6, Ella is 4
new baby is getting this camera so everyone will be getting the same thing from santa :lmao:

Most, if not all, the camera manufacturers make entry level P n S cameras in the $100 bracket. Canon has their A495 series, Pentax their E80/85/90 series, Panasonic Lumix DMC-F2 series, etc. I would recommend looking at online sites, ie, bhphotovideo.com, pick a manufacturer and look in your price range. They all have different colors so you can pick and choose. If you want to compare head to head, there is dpreview.com and using the 'Buying Guide' they can be compared side-by-side. Since I shoot with Pentax, a couple of years back, I bought my DGD the Optio E70. The E series is a starter camera with simple controls and large buttons. For a seven year old, now 9, it worked well.

Stay away from sane. Had 3 of 6 break in photography class at the YMCA used only twice a week for an hour for 3 months under supervision.

I like nikon or canon. Also look at refurbished cameras as a possibility but only if they come with a year warrantee. Also, cheaper cameras often have a 90 warrantee so that is something to consider. Also, you may find a camera that tacked AA batteries may be easier to manage than proprietary rechargeable batteries which may need to be removed from the camera to be charged - you run the risk of loosing both the battery and charger.

AlbertZeroK congrats on your adoption. We are a foster/adoptive family too :lovestruc

Not a bad camera. Make sure to pick up memory cards. You may have a problem with purchasing 6. I know we buy best buy laptops online on black Friday. Limit one per order so we place multiple orders which works well.

Congrats yourself on the adoption. We are adopting a girl who has been in 12 placements over 7 years and it is amazing how truly loving a child and understanding them makes all the difference (and an iron clad resolution that this is our daughter!).

I plan on making my dad and sister stand in line with me ;) if I can get 3 the 2 littles will get kid ones

We are working on adoption 5 and 6 all the others have been adopted already. We get most of ours as infants. All are special needs. We are a medical home.
I am happy your daughter has a safe place to call home forever

I would look for older cameras, ones capabale of being water resistant and shock resistant. If they were good enough 2 years ago they will be good enough today! Plus they whould be way cheaper than newer models they are replacing... that way if the little ones drop it or take it in a pool it should work fine... Like this one I have this camera and bought it with my 6 (was 5 year old) daughter in mind. It takes a good beating and can handle being thrown around our pool like a water bomb!
