Once again, exposing my ignorance...

Is there a way I can set my camera to avoid shadows on faces, etc on bright days? For example, pictures of my son pitching a baseball on a bright day came out poorly, b/c his face is in the shadows (has a baseball hat on). I'm not sure where the sun was at that point, but much of the front of his body is in shadow.

Thanks for any insights you can give me! :wave2:

I use a fill flash to help reduce the shadows. Just depends on your camera and how effective your flash is.

Thanks, Jack...but then that leads me to 2 more questions...

1. I was probably shooting full zoom (125mm); will fill flash help there?

2. How do I use fill flash on my XT? anybody? (fine, fine, i will look it up in my manual.. ;) )

I am not sure how far your flash will reach? Kelly may know what distance the internal flash will cover. I use an external 580 ex for my hockey pics. Wish I could help you more. http://photonotes.org/articles/eos-flash/ may want to check out this link..

i don't think the rebel has a fill flash...i asked about that a couple days ago and think you might just have to use the regular flash, ie pop it up manually when you are in the creative modes
i've looked everywhere i can think of and can't see anyplace it says there is a fill flash...Oblio said something about just being able to use in in tv maybe, not sure about that right now...i think it's under the kelly photo 101 thread we were talking about it
