I had a fuji finepix for years. It was kind of big and bulky and I thought I hated it, until......last year while at Maho Beach in St. Martin (the one w/the planes), I was taken out by a wave while I had the camera in my hand. It was ruined. So the tour guy took us to a camera store to replace it. I was in a hurry and probably a little to trusting and was sold an Olympus Stylus 840; 8.0 MP; 5x zoom for about $200. I HATE it! Sometimes it takes good pics sometimes it's awful. I don't know what I am doing with it there's so many buttons/options. Does anyone know anything about this camera? do I just not know what I'm doing? I'm not a huge "picture taker", but I like to have nice vacation pics. Can anyone recommend a nice, easy to use camera that takes nice indoor/outdoor/night/etc. pics?? Without spending a fortune. I'm looking at the $250 range. Like I said, I'm not a huge pic taker so those DSLR's probably aren't for me. Or can anyone recommend a "fool proof" setting for my Olympus? Going on a cruise and want to be able to zoom, take night pics, pics of the show w/o flash, etc...........I'm hoping Im just not using it correctly. Hate to think I completely wasted $200 on a camera._____

Anything by Nikon or Canon will take good pictures....though I doubt the camera is at fault. On the other hand, if you aren't happy with it, I wouldn't settle for it. Keep it in your car in case you get into an accident, or put it in a earthquake/hurricane kit. Get yourself something you are happy with.
