Camera help?!?

There are many companies that rent DSLRs and Lenses at great rates.

You can easily get a solid DSLR, 50mm Prime Lens, and a Good Telephoto for roughly 200 bucks for a week.

I'd use your iphone and get the regular prepaid photopass CD. I've got so many great shots from the photo pass, plus I'm in a lot of them b/c Disney was taking the pictures:lovestruc

I have a dslr and a few point and shoots - I leave them all at home when I go to DL/WDW and use my iPhone. It's an excellent camera, light, and sometimes even works as a phone ;)

Might want to download a few camera apps before heading out. Camera+ is an excellent all purpose app. Hipstamatic is great as well - has many "vintage" style filters that seem made for the world.

I have a camera I purchased before my iPhone, I use both. The phone works pretty well in most situations and I have some apps (many of them free, but be sure to read the reviews before you upload). However, I have heard it is not great in low lite situations. I have the 4s, which has the flash feature, not sure when that started. I tend to use my camera when the lites go down, but I have used my phone inside with normal lighting with no problem.

Have fun:goodvibes!

Ill go against the flow as always and offer a 3rd option. People who do not know much about photography ONLY look at megapixels. Sorry, but there's a LOT more to it than that. Forget the inflated megapixels. Optical is what's more important. Your iphone (even the latest) only has digital optical which is nothing more than manipulating 1X optical. You want REAL optical. Even the cheapest bridge camera has 3X optical. The iphone has none. The easiest way to look at it is the depth of the camera is very important. The DSLR is deep and therefore takes better overall pictures (especially when zoomed). Of course this is really simplified... theres more to argue but not here. And you mentioned that you cant afford that, and thats perfectly understandable... If all your pictures will be from 10 feet away or more then take your iphone and have a great time.
If your looking to get some zoom pics, OR, if your planning to upload them to a huge pc monitor for backdrop... sorry there's no substitute for a real camera. You can pick up many older digital cameras for pennies on the dollar. I used an Olympus Stylus 410 for many years and loved it. One can be had used on ebay for around $20 shipped to your door. Its waterproof (somewhat.. once dropped mine in kiddie pool with no adverse effects). It has a cool feature of when you slide the door closed the camera is OFF. (No accidental pocket pictures) and it takes great pics. Its as tough as a hockey puck, and it wont cost you $500 if you accidentally drop it due to an inconsiderate person who isn't looking where they are walking. The software with it is very simple as well if you should decide to use it. I used to post religiously on the foodporn page here on the DIS with that camera and got asked repeatedly what kind of DSLR I used. I also recommend a Dimage series by Minolta. Easy, cheap, and around $30 snagged up on ebay. They have as much as 12X optical (again Im not talking about digital optical which is NOT the same and not as important). The drawback is the Dimage (Kodak easyshare is similar) is a lot thicker and not as easy to carry in pocket. Though I have many times. I now carry my DSLR because i value amazing pictures over a little extra inconvenience to carry. Anyways the cheap Stylus 410 is a great beginners Disney camera. Yes its seriously outdated, but the pictures are still decent for something you can buy for less than a plate of St. Louis Ribs for your family at Flametree... Anyways theres something to consider as well.

Oh one more thing... A dimage is a viewfinder camera, which means providing you don't use flash, there's NO LCD SCREEN so you wont be annoying the 6 foot tall tattooed guy sitting behind you on a dark ride with your big bright DISTRACTING screen. Those bright LCD screens are rude and inconsiderate. I actually take a piece of black tape to cover the bright blue LCD on my Pentax DSLR. If everyone did "the World" would be a better place.

Thank you all a million times over! I did not expect anyone to respond a a thread about camera phones! I appreciate all the feedback & plan on printing it all out tomorrow! Also appreciate the info on the apps!

Oh my gosh SelfEmployed poster- that's alot of info and thank you for your time! I will check eBay out and see if I can find something. Thanks!

When hubby and I went last summer, I just used my iPhone and PhotoPass...Worked great.

That being said, I do love having a real camera....I just bought a spiffy new camera and am very excited.:cool1:

As I said, its just an option. My DSLR became an obsession, and my children now LOVE those Olympus Stylus cameras. They are truly perfect for kids. All but bulletproof, dirt cheap, (did I mention CHEAP?) and the memory cards are cheap. You do have to buy that Olympus memory card but again.. cheap. And at 3 megapixels you don't NEED an 8gig card! The camera set on highest resolution isn't a memory hog like the newer cameras. The different settings allow for food shots or night, etc. The children don't understand ISO, white balance, etc.. And they dont need to. They just look at the picture and like what they see. Most adults are like the children. They just want the picture to look good enough to show family and friends.

And water-resistant + disney = win!
