Have any suggestions for a digital camera? I am looking at the olympus stylus 410- because it is an all weather camera. I have never owned one and know nothing about them - what do you all use?

I was just reading a thread on the budget board about digital cameras as I am thinking about getting one. It is on the first page. I'm sorry that I don't know how to link you to that thread.:wave2:

Thanks, I will head on over there and see if i can find any info. I hope someone knows about this camera, i like the fact is can get a little wet.

Laurie. You won't go wrong with this camera. I bought an Olympus last year, just because it came so highly recommended by my coworkers. I actually wish we had the 410. That one looks pretty sharp, and it is much cheaper now, than it was last year.

Just try and get a good price, a good set of rechargable NiMH batteries and as big a XD picture card you can afford.

Amazon has great prices on these cards. I have used the Lexmark 256 with great results - and you can't beat the price!

for trips like these I would recommend getting one of the kodak waterproof cameras. You don't have to worry about it getting wet and if you loose it you will not feel as bad as if you had lost the more expensive one.

We bought the Kodak waterproof cameras last year to take to USO. It is 800 speed and the cameras are great. HOWEVER, when we went thru airport security, they told me it was safe to scan these cameras because that speed film was not susceptible to the "x-ray" and that was not true. They wiped out all of the pictures we had taken, the film came out totally black when we developed them. Keep that in mind if you fly. Don't lose your memories of your USO visit.

I always put my film in a protective bag to make sure the film is not destroyed. Most camera shops sell them. It is a cheap investment fot those with film cameras.

When I used to take film (always 800 speed) I never had a problem running it through. As far as I remember. Are those cameras preloaded with the film? Maybe they were defective?
