wHWN TAKING PICS AT THE AIRPLANE WINDOW WOULD I NEED THE FLASH ON OR OFF? SAME WITH THE MIDSHIP ELEVATORS AND THE AQUARIM TANKS AT ATLANTIS? I DON'T WANT A BUNCH OF PICS OF MY FLASH GOING OFF.

Unless your lens is pressed directly against the glass, the flash will reflect off the glass and show 'flare' on your pictures.

For the aquarium, i would use fairly fast film and no flash.

For the airplane window, regular daylight film and no flash. Look for high contrast scenes like the seashore or rivers, if you're planning on photographing from aloft.

I WORK IN PROFESSIONAL VIDEO AND PHOTO ...IF THERE IS ADAQUATE LIGHT IN THE AQUARIUM TANKS, YOU WILL NOT NEED THE FLASH...TURNING OFF THE FLASH MIGHT NOT BE THE ANSWER THOUGH. IN PLACES LIKE THE TERRORS OF THE DEEP IN SEA WORLD, THE TANKS ARE WELL LITE BUT THE PLACE WHERE YOU ARE STANDING IS DARK. THIS MIGHT TELL YOUR CAMERA TO TURN THE FLASH ON EVEN THOUGH YOU HAVE IT OFF. THE SOLUTION IS SIMPLE. I JUST CAME BACK FROM DISNEY WITH 1000 PICTURES. I ONLY HAD 3 FLASHBACKS AT OF ALL OF THE SHOTS TROUGH GLASS. WHEN TAKING THE PICTURE, COVER THE FLASH WITH YOUR FINGERS OR HAND. THIS WILL PREVENT ANY SHOT OF FLASHBACK. IF YOU ARE USING A 35MM CAMERA AND NOT DIGITAL, BUY FILM AT ATLEAST 800 SPEED. 1600 IS BETTER,BUT IS OVER KILL AND IS REALLY EXPENSIVE.
FOR THE PLANE .. IT DEPENDS, FLASH OFF MOST OF THE TIME BECAUSE IT HAS NO FOCUS OBJECT. A NIGHT FLIGHT IS FLASH OFF . ALL U WILL SEE IS A BUNCH OF LIGHTS ON THE GROUND. DEFINITLY 800 SPEED FILM FOR THIS ONE.

Someone once told me to set my camera on the setting for scenery. That way if your camera sees the glass it might focus on it, This way it will focus beyond it.
I took some beautiful photos at Animal Kingdom this way.
