DH just bought a new (very expensive) digital camcorder. We won't discuss the fact that I was not in agreement with that purchase! :sad2: I have a very good SLR camera. I'm wondering how safe it is to have that equipt. on rides? :confused3 I did buy quality camera cases for both, but will all that jarring around, on say RocknRoller Coaster, mess it up?

Water rides, i'd make sure it is covered. As for the other rides like RnRRC, as long as you keep it secure, it should be fine. I normally hold my camera equipment on "rough" rides.

my digital video camera has made 4 or 5 trips taping slpash mountain, and rock n roller coaster. no issues...just dont drop it. :)

On most rides I have no problem at all with my cameras; I just wrap the strap around my legs and brace it. Many rides, like Dinosaur and Star Tours, actually have storage pockets for your cameras that hold them secure enough to prevent damage.

On water rides I put my camera into a 1-gallon Ziploc bag (which I carry around with me at the parks for just such an occasion!) and it stays dry as a bone. This also works well during the afternoon deluge that occurs on late summer afternoons at 3:52 and 22 seconds.

At Universal, many rides have lockers just outside (free for the first 30 minutes). Those I remember are Hulk, Dueling Dragons, Jurassic Park River Adv., and MIB; I think there are more that I can't remember right off.

We brought our digital video recorder and digital SLR camera on rides... however, DH had a big camera bag (looks like a backpack) that he put them in. It was nicely padded.. they were fine.

I had this horrible fear that we would go and not be able to safely carry around this equipt! Can you believe how little the camcorders are now? :earboy2: It 'tapes' right onto a disk, too. I feel so much better!

Not all rides at WDW have a little bag for these items, not even the ones you expect to. When we went in Oct. I was surprised to find that RnR did NOT have a place to put items like this. I literally sat on our camera, placing it under my legs....of course this made the ride a bit harder to enjoy and this was right after the hurricanes and the music stopped as we went upside down...I could just see us getting stuck upside down with me trying to hold that camera still!! :rotfl: Anyway, just something to think about....I don't think Test Track has a pocket either...I know there were a few of them that surprised me, so just be aware!

The zip lock bag is a great suggestion...never thought of that, and was concerned because DBF has a really nice camera. What is the situation on the Kali River ride at AK? I have never ridden this ride, but DBF says we have to do it all in May! Thanks.

I wear the strap of our camera across my chest. Then, I cushion it between myself and dh, ds', or dd. This has always worked. I wish I could say the same about my dh and his sunglasses. Alas, that's another story.

The situation on Kali is WET, with severe moisture to follow.

There is a small compartment in the center of the Kali boats that's supposed to be dry, but every time I've been on the ride it's been full of water, so be sure to take your Ziplocs on Kali!
