I too own the Flipside 300, and I can't be happier with it. I carry my 5D II, 5 lenses(two of which are pretty big), tripod, and accessories with no problems. My whole setup weighs in at 15 lbs, but that's my fault.

Depends on the style you like and the capacity you need...Mine is similar to the S5 Travelite - but a little different as mine is 5 years old and they've changed some designs. But it's a solid, hefty bag with good padding and good rainproofing, and has worked well for me.

I'm having a similar dilemma and am going to likely purchase the Lowepro Flipside 300. It's the bag Matt uses (if you recall seeing his) and he said he's very happy with it.

Have you seen the updated Slingshots? (102/202/302) They have a tripod strap on the side, the one thing I wish my 300 had.

I have a Lowepro Stealth Reporter 300 and love it. Has the zipper on the top flap for quick access to the camera.

In CA they were using the D70. One photographer did tell me they would be getting the D90 real soon.

I got the Crumpler 5 million, used but like new on B&H for 49.00 and will be here Tuesday with regular shipping so that worked out perfect! It's a light blue and orange so not crazy on the colors, but for the price and it's use I figured it was a worthy compromise. thanks again for all the quick responses!

They are slowly transitioning into D90's. The lens they use depends on their location. Different parks and different areas have a lens that best suites what they are shooting.

Since they shoot all day, every day, they want something that's a little sturdier than the most basic DSLR models, but at the same time they didn't really need top-of-the line models for the types of work they're doing. For a time that meant the D70 was a good fit.

Like any wise business they continue using their equipment as long as it functions and continues to suit their needs. They also want to stick with something that will work with their current equipment (lenses, storage, flashes, software, accessories, etc.) and workflow. That means they're sticking with Nikon. As they slowly replace equipment they went with whatever equivalent model Nikon makes & sells. So, when Nikon stopped manufacturing the D70 (or D70s), Disney started buying the D80. Now it looks like they're going for the D90.

Doing a photopass share for the first time, have a question, and thought this might be the place for it - after you get your photopass pictures back from disney, does the "editing" process allow for cropping/zooming in in case there is something in the shot you don't like?

Yep, you sure can crop your pictures.

Make sure to choose the aspect ratio (4x6, 5x7, etc.) from the pull-down menu on each picture as you are editing if you will want to make prints of your photopass pictures at specific sizes, especially if you are adding borders to the pictures. Your photopass pictures will only print properly at 4x6, 5x7, 8x10, etc. if you select that size from the pull-down menu on the photo editing page before you make your alterations (like cropping) and before you save an image with a border applied to it.

eta: I just noticed you're in a Photopass share. If you have access to that Photopass account prior to the ordering of the CD, you can crop your pics and add borders and all that stuff. If you are talking about making adjustments to the pictures after you receive your copy of the CD, then it's too late to use any of Disney's editing tools to make changes to your pictures and you will have to use a photo processing or image editing program on your home PC before you have the pictures developed.

So I am a newbie to the DSLR world. I got the Canon T1i for Christmas and have had so much fun playing with it for a few months. However I am ready to kind of 'step up' my pics if you know what I mean.

I have been looking at lightroom by adobe as an affordable option for software.

Do any photog friends have thoughts on this product before I buy?

I would be lost without Lightroom. It's a great propram. The learning curve is a little strong at first and I would recommend buying Scott Kelby's Lightroom manual. It especially helped understand the power of Lightroom as an organizer/library. It doea a lot more than just help with edits.

I agree. It is amazing just what you can do with Lightroom just in its photo organization alone. It also is a very good editing program as well with tons of free editing presets available online to create interesting image effects.

Kelby's book is a must have if you really want to use Lightroom to it's full potential.

As much as I love it, it may be too much software for some people. Every single one of the photos I decide to keep gets some sort or adjusting, sharpening, cropping, tagging, uploading to web, etc. And for that, it has made my life much easier.

But, If you don't shoot RAW, or aren't as obsessive about tagging/editing high volumes of photos, there might be easier and cheaper options out there.

And the final release of v3 should be out before too long (the beta has been available for testing for a while). So if you're serious about it, I would wait for the new version to come out.
