Lightroom's fantastic! Don't worry, everyone's intimidated at first, especially if you've never used anything this powerful. I was too, but once I got going and started playing around, I grew to really really like it.

Check out lightroomkillertips.com, a great resource!

It is pretty awesome... Scott Kelby has a nice book on it.

It took me about 2 minutes of fiddling to crop, change the exposure and dodging the picture below. Not that it was an amazing photograph or anything. But, it was extremely easy to PP.

I second the PP with the tutorials on the Adobe site. I watched them all right after I downloaded the free trial for Lightroom 2.0 and learned enough to get started with processing a few photos. I liked it so much I used my brother's step daughter's student ID to order it. It just came yesterday and I haven't had the chance to install it. I really like the ease of keywording and the catalog/organize features. It seems to be so much easier and intuitive than Elements 6 that I was using before this.

I will be interested in watching this thread to see if anyone else has more links or references to learning this program. I was going to start a thread about it too once I got it installed so I am glad you asked this question.

the help takes you to the tutorials
i agree though, it does a great job with very little work once you catch on to it a little

Thanks for the leads. I haven't had a chance to look at anything yet. My kids are on spring break and are keeping me busy. I did try to edit a photo and got completely overwhelmed. LOL I've been using the RAW converter that comes with Elements 6.0 pretty efficiently, but I can't believe how much more there is to fiddle with in Lightroom. I'll definately give those tutorials a look.

Lightroom is awesome and I'm sure you'll love it. I bought it along with CS4 back in December both on student discounts and have become a big fan. CS4 on the other hand... well I'm still really intimidated by it and am ashamed to admit I have only played with it once so far :sad2:. Desperately need to do some tutorials on it :scared:

Just wanted to give everyone an update. I just got back from a weekend in DC and used my new Crumpler 6MDH for the first time. Let me tell you, that sucker is BIG (in good ways and in bad). I will try to post some pics later, but here are some thoughts.

1. It was big. I was able to put my D90 w/ 18-200 attached in the center. I put my 50mm, my 60mm micro, my new Sigma 30 AND my SB600 in inner side compartments. I then loaded my memory cards, filters, charger and lens pens, as well as keys and wallet into the little netted portion, as well as the front compartment with the velcro. It holds A LOT.

2. Because it holds a lot, I felt obligated to carry a lot, which means my shoulder hurt by the end of the day. :headache:

3. The velcro is loud, but I really like having that extra little bit of security knowing that even if I forget to do the latch, chances are my stuff won't come tumbling out.

4. The padded shoulder strap thingy was nice, but in the long run didn't seem to do all that much.

5. The bag itself felt VERY sturdy. Nice and padded and didn't have to worry about sitting it down and having it topple over.

6. On day 3, for the zoo, I switched to using my normal messenger style purse. I was able to put my D90 w/ attached 18-200 in, with the Sigma 30, a water bottle laying on top (which I know, probably isn't a safe thing to do in the future) and all of my other junk (memory cards, etc.).

For WDW, I'm either going to stick with the purse or I am going to try really hard not to worry about carrying the 6MDH fully loaded everywhere I go. I realize that even though it can hold my entire collection of junk, that doesn't mean I have to carry it all with me. :thumbsup2

I should chime in here as well...I just got back from WDW and wanted to second the opinion on the Crumpler 5 million dollar home. It's sturdy, held a Rebel with sigma 18-200 and my 50mm 1.8 along with various lens caps, cleaners, and other things very easily.

I just got myself a 50d, so we'll see how well it fits, but the Crumpler so far has been fantastic!

Here's how it looks when being hauled around:

I got a Crumpler 4MDH last week and will be taking it to WDW in 2 weeks .. I'll report back :)

I have a feeling, though, that I might wish I'd gotten the 5 vs. the 4. We'll see.

Thanks for the update and hey, when that shoulder gets to hurting really bad, you can come over to the dark side and get a belt system like mine  Seriously...did a several mile hike the other day, fully loaded, scrambling over rocks, etc. no pain!

The 50D is a great camera, I just got mine in Jan. and love it! Thanks for the review!

Also, make sure you download Adobe's Camera Matching Profiles. They exist for most/all current Canon, Nikons, and Pentaxes. These should cure the most common (and serious) gripe about Lightroom, which is flat, dull photos out of the box.

I know this has been discussed before, so please forgive me.
I am looking for a camera bag, preferably a waist pack, since I have some back problems and I don't think a backpack or sling would be comfortable.

For my next trip, I plan on taking my Sony a300 with an 18-250 lens attached, a 50mm prime, extra battery, memory cards and maybe an external flash. I also need room for park tickets, cell phone, rain poncho...
Can anyone recommend a waist pack that will hold the above?
Thanks

Not sure if this guy was a Photopass Photographer or not- I'm guessing not but I'll bump a good thread anyway. ;)

I am new to the DSLR scene. I bought a Canon Rebel XSi yesterday, and was wondering what do you carry it in while in Disney? I was something small enough so I can still ride and enjoy the park, but big enough to carry my two lenses. SO, what is the best bag to get carry it in?

Thanks in advance!
