Well I don't usually stand out in the rain when I do run into it at Disney so probably water resistant will be good enough, plus I usually have a pancho or something to cover with while I get to cover. I picked up a bag at Walmart tonight because I really need something now, its water resistant.

But no not planning any canoe trips right now.

and I love love love it. I NEVER wanted a backpack style for fear of people being able to unzip it and get into it while I wasn't paying attention. :rolleyes1 well the one he bought me.... unzips on the side that is next to your body. and it is a covered zipper. I love it for toting my stuff around. I am a newbie photographer so I don't have a ton of stuff yet so it works perfect. I have my Olympus evolt and 2 lenses, 2 hoods, power cord, batteries, tripod, extra cards, and external flash with some room to spare. it is called the lowepro flipside 300, we got it at Dans camera city. love that store

I'll be there 8/17-24 & may participate. Not sure how many days I'll be at the parks due to the humidity - yucky! :sad2:

Do you know if they have Photopass photographers at the Cape May breakfast?

Are you looking for something truly water proof, like the kind you would need if you were going on a canoe? Or are you looking for something weather resistant, like you would need for walking around Disney in the rain?

I'm not the OP but I too am I'm looking for something that will help my camera survive rain storms.

It seems like I'm always stuck in the rain anywhere I go :rotfl: - Zoo, Park, Disney. Because of it, I never have as many pictures as I'd like.

I found the fully waterproof aquapac on the internet but I just wanted something to use in the rain.
Any ideas?

Lowepro has some AW (All Weather) bags that you might like. I have the Mini Trekker AW and like it. I also have the DryZone 200, which is a "canoe" suitable bag, but it's more of a pain to use.

Incidentally, you don't need a waterproof bag to use a camera in a canoe. I take mine out all the time without a bag at all. The trick is making sure that the camera doesn't fall in the water. You've got to match the level of protection to the level of risk. An experienced canoeist in calm conditions is quite different than a beginner in whitewater.

When I finally talk DW into letting me get my dSLR, I still plan to bring my waterproof P&S along for just such instances.

I am one of those people who take a ton of pictures. I have a D50. But, I was thinking it may be nice to get the photopass since I will actually be in some of the pictures. The people that are coming with me do not take photos and when they do the heads are cut off or they take the pictures so far away.

For those of you who have used Photopass:

1. Did you like the quality?
2. How does the CD actually work? Once you pick your photos (and possibly upload your own??) how much is it to print out the pictures? Or can you just upload your CD to shutterfly or Coscto?
3. How do you go about uploading your own pictures to Photopass?

My other photo question is: If you do not have a laptop with you while at WDW is there a place where you can upload your pictures or a camera shop at the park where you can do this. I am one of those anal people who would buy another card for my camera before I delete my pics. So I would be able to come home and upload my pictures, put on external hard drive and put on a cd before I delete my pictures from the card.

Hello. I had tons of fun with my photopass once I got home and started to edit usuing the photopass website. I have yet to print them (I'm playing around with photosho - 400 plus photos takes awhile!) put I did up load them to Snapfish so my family could see them. I don't think you can upload your own photos to the photopass cd. Be sure to check out Bradk's website (link below) he has a ton of info! You can have unlimited photos on the CD.

Here is a link to prepurchase the CD for $99 otherwise its $124 http://www.disneyphotopass.com/previsitcdplan.aspx

For those of you who have used Photopass:

1. Did you like the quality?.

Yes, most of the pix are excellent. The only ones I had any problems with were ones taken at night.

Here's a sample of a few I liked

You can have them printed wherever you want. I get mine at Sam's. They should ask you for the copyright agreement-it'll be on your disc to print out.

3. How do you go about uploading your own pictures to Photopass?.

You can't and why would you?

I know how you feel. I few trips ago I filled up my 1G card while at AK. I had already gone to Sams previously to download pix to a CD. I decided against doing it at AK as they were pretty expensive I think it was over $20 for only 200 pix. (or something like that) It would have taken 3 cards to download them. So we went back to Sam's again, and downloaded there ($5/for 400+). Both my DSis had to do theirs as well. However, if you really need to do it, it can be done. Now, I have plenty of cards (several 1GB and 1 2GB) so I'll no longer run out of storage. Cards have gotten so cheap now! :goodvibes

HTH! :goodvibes

Usually, if a Photopass photographer is taking your photo, you can also hand them your camera and they'll take a few photos with it. They're using Nikons already so will have no problem using your D50. :)

Chances are that you'll get basically the same photo without having to pay the big bucks for the Photopass setup.

Just wanted to add that last year rather then purchasing the CD, we purchased the Photopass Book. The less expensive level at $49.95 and higher level at $69.95. (not overly positive on the difference between the two) You can add pages for only $1.49. Its a beautiful book and very nice quality. To me, its cost effective cause even after purchasing the CD, you have to pay to print the pictures. This way you get a finnished product. And the real nice thing is you can add from stock pictures which have some really nice scenery pictures you'd otherwise not be able to get. To me, its my best Disney "souvenier".

Not sure if there's a pre-purchase discount option available for the Photopass Book or not. If there is, maybe someone can link it. :)

You can add your own pictures to Photopass. Go to http://www.disneyphotopass.com create an account and then you can upload your photo's as well.

Uploading Overview
Before you begin uploading, we recommend placing all of the photos you wish to upload into one folder on your computer so you can easily select them for uploading. We also recommend that you first rotate your images to the correct orientation and make sure that they are not cropped to a square or panoramic shape. This will help ensure that the photos display properly in your finished product. Photos that are standard photo aspect ratios (4x6 and 5x7) are recommended for including in products.

Once your photos have been saved as JPEGs, you can upload them using the Multiple Photo Uploading Tool or Single Upload process described above.

Uploading photos signifies you agree to our uploaded photos policy and Disney's PhotoPass Terms and Conditions.

Supported Image File Types
JPEG is the only file type supported at DisneyPhotoPass.com. If your images are saved in a format other than one of our supported file types, you can use an image-editing application to convert the files into JPEGs. Some popular image-editing applications are provided by Adobe, Roxio and Corel. Or type "image file type converter" into your favorite search engine such as Yahoo or Google for other options.

Image Upload Requirements
Below is a list of minimum image photo resolution (in pixels) and camera resolution (in megapixels) for each of our photo products. If you upload photos to DisneyPhotoPass.com for use in any of our products, we strongly recommend that you follow these guidelines to ensure the highest quality product.

Photo Product Minimum Image Resolution (Pixels)
Minimum Camera Resolution (Megapixels)

Disney's PhotoMovie
640x480
VGA/Camera Phone

Disney's PhotoBook

1500x2000
2 Megapixels

Disney's PhotoCard
750x1050
1 Megapixel

Note: The above numbers indicate the minimum recommended image resolution for our various photo products. Your images may exceed these specifications, but please note that due to system limitations, individual files may not exceed 2MB in size.

We cannot be responsible for photos you upload that appear blurry or out-of-focus. Even if the image resolution meets the above minimum requirements for the product you wish to build, the end result will not be optimal if the original image is not optimal.

A photo that does not meet the above requirements may look good when viewed online, but will appear blurry and pixelated - that is, the image will appear blocky with jagged rather than smooth edges - when enlarged and printed.

Caveat emptor!

First off, you can probably get these bags even cheaper by buying through eBay, you seem them listed as Dynatran all the time. I picked up a holster bag for the princely sum of 25 cents. Not dollars, but cents. Plus shipping, of course, but still, it was well under $10 total.

Second - my plan was to try using a holster bag on my belt. After all of two days of use, it ripped off my belt, sending my camera crashing to the ground. And this with a fairly light DSLR and light kit lens! Fortunately no damage was done, but upon closer inspection, the belt loop was woefully weak, especially when compared to the belt loops on holsters from Tamrac, etc. You definitely are not getting Tamrac quality for the price. In my case, it was so cheap that it wasn't even worth sending it back, especially when the replacement will still have a pathetically weak belt loop that I wouldn't use.

That being said, you can probably do OK if you keep your expectations fairly low. Now that my K100D is basically "the wife's camera" (complete with red Op/Tech strap :) ), and she is not going to be changing lenses very often, we use the cheap Amvona holster bag to protect the camera, and support it via the camera's strap, which sticks out the sides.

Ok, i looked on DsneyPhotopass.com and i don't see where i can pre-order the cd. Can someone please direct me in the right direction? :confused3
