just booked a trip to SSR 3/30-4/6. Now I have to decide on a camera bag for my XTi. I do not have a lot of equipment just the camera and hopefully by then a gorillapod. Have narrowed my choices to the Lowepro slingshot and the Crumpler $5 miliion. Must do some research and decide which one I will purchase. Staples had 2 gb compact flash cards on sale in todays paper, I ran out and bought 2, that gives me 3, one for every 2 days.

I picked up the Lowepro Fastpack 350, it lets me carry my gear plus a laptop. They have other versions without the laptop, if you unhook it from your right arm you can access your camera. BH had great prices on them.

I have a LowePro MicroTrekker 20. I wouldn't buy for what you've got right now, I'd think about what you'll have in gear over the next few years as you buy more, or you'll just end up spending more cash on yet another bag.

In my bag right now I've got two bodies, an 80-200, a 28-70 (F/2.8, so wide glass), the lens hoods for them, a 50 mm prime, a 2x teleconverter, a speedlight with difuser, a Minolta DiMage point & shoot, and some other odds and ends of stuff. It's definitely crammed in tight, but it closes without strain on the zippers. If I take out the DiMage I can fit another lens.

The nice thing about buying a larger case is that you can also use it for anything else you need to carry to avoid carrying a second bag.

Crumpler's $5M bag will swallow up a XTi with the kit lens, another lens, and/or a flash. I would (and did) tie the GorillaPod onto the strap or the handle with velcro ties.

What lens do you have on the XTi? The Lowpro Slingshot 100, just holds an XTi with a small lens. The Slingshot 200 is a bit larger, but will grow with you. I shoot with an XT, but for xmas I bought the Slingshot 100 for my Mom who shohts wiht an XTi. For her, the 100 was too small. It wouldn't fit her Xti with her 24-70 canon L series. She now has both the 200 and 300. The 200 is a nice sized bag. And it is comfortable to carry. It does take some getting used to as far as putting it on.

I bought a Tamrac Velocity 7 for our December trip. I use it to carry my E-volt 410, 1 extra lens, flash, plenty of memory cards, batteries,etc. Now when I get a tripod, I might have to rethink and get a different bag or just rent a locker to store it in. My wife likes to stay in the park all day long, I think she's part commando!

I bought a Crumpler and have never looked back. The build quality of their bags are great and they don't look like camera bags until you take the camera out. So far I have been very pleased and always recommend them to friends who have also been quite pleased with them.

I bought the Crumpler 4 or 5 million $ home and returned it. It's a very attractive bag, and it might be ok if all you're carrying is the camera and one lightweight lens. However, I found it to be quite uncomfortable with my D70 and 2 lenses. I got the Slingshot 200 instead--not as nice looking but I'd rather spend my money on camera gear than chiropractic services. I also have a Tamrac backpack that I use when I don't want to carry all the gear that the Slingshot will hold. It's more comfortable than the Slingshot, although it is harder to get to your stuff.

I"ll toss in a vote for the Crumpler. DH bought me the 7 million dollar home for Christmas. LOVE IT! It fits my XTi with the kit lens attached, the nifty fifty, and a 70-00 zoom, along with cords and cables and straps and other little incidentals. Still plenty of room to expand. It's an attractive bag that doesn't scream CAMERA HERE! Comfortable to carry by handle or shoulder strap. And if you don't ave little little ones, it's really the only bag you need for the day. You can stow away money, cell phones, passes, and the like in one of the many pockets. Good luck with your decision!

I'm looking for a new bag to add to my growing collection, LOL. I've been thinking of one of the Lowepro Sling shots http://products.lowepro.com/product/SlingShot-200-AW,2035,4.htm#

Does anyone have any experience with these? I have a similar bag from Tamrac, allows access to your gear without actually removing the backpack, but it's a bit small. I'd like to find something that I can keep a DSLR in, along with maybe 2-3 lenses, a small video camera, as well as some "non" camera gear such as rain poncho's, water bottles etc.

I've gone through so many bags over the years I'm tired of wasting money on them, but I have yet to find the perfect one.

Anyone have any recommendations for something the likes of what I'm talking about above?

I have it. I have camera body + 1 lens attached. 2 other lens and a flash and room for a small camcorder. It also has 2 pouches for other stuff like batteries CF cards etc. You won't be able to fit water bottles in it but might get a poncho or 2 in there. It also has a waterproof cover included.

I've got the Slingshot AW200 and its great. I can fit a ton of stuff in it:

1. Camera W/ 18-55
2. 50mm
3. 70-300mm
4. Speedlight
5. Filters

I usually lug it around with that stuff in it. I will go lighter when needed. I lugged all of that around WDW this past December and it was very comfortable.
