Camelot vs Desert Inn

My husband, 2 kids, parents, and I will be traveling to Disneyland in February, staying 5 nights. We require 2 separate rooms so we can have the extra bathroom, and I don't have to listen to my parents snore haha. I am stuck between connecting 2 queen rooms at the Camelot or the B2 exectutive suite at the Desert Inn (2 queens and sofas in each room). Breakfast is not so much as a concern as we will just pick up some things we can eat in our room or eat out (plan to do a character breakfast one day). Usually we would stay at BWPPI, but these two properties will save us considerable money. Desert Inn is about $200 less than the Camelot for the stay including the cost for parking at each. We will need space for DS4 in our room as well as a pack n play for the 6 month old DS. When DS4 was an infant, we stayed in a 2 queen room at the Tropicana, and that was a squeeze with the pack n play and stroller, but we figure we can stow the stroller in my parents' room this time. Are the Camelot rooms comparable in size to the Tropicana rooms? I know the Desert Inn rooms will be larger because they have space for a sofa.

What are your views on each property? Pros? Cons?

It's been a while since we've stayed at the Camelot, but we have stayed in both their suites and their regular rooms. When we stayed in the regular room we used a rollaway for one of our kids (this was when our kids were small). It was a very snug fit with the 2 Q and a rollaway. Very very snug. This past summer we stayed in a C1 suite at DI&S. It had 2Q in each room, a sofa in one room and a small table and chairs and a lounger type chair in the other room. One and a half bathrooms. The rooms were much bigger than the Camelot's rooms. It was older, and the furniture was pretty beat up, a very basic hotel, but it was very clean, there were lots of towels, and we had a good stay there. It's basic, no frills, but clean and roomy. Parking is a pain (both places I think) wifi was not good at DI&S, Camelot I don't know. I've never stayed at Tropicana, so I can't compare to that.

We stayed at the DI&S for our trip - we were happy with it, yes a little older but for that you get quite spacious rooms that will be able to accommodate the kid essentials. It was a great location, our room was clean and well serviced, staff were friendly and helpful as a solo mum Aussie family far from home that was really appreciated . Breakfast is not fancy but enough to get you going and if you are going to have your own things in the room that should not worry you too much.

I have stayed in regular rooms at Camelot and desert inn. I much prefer Camelot. We had 3 adults and 2 kids. We had 2 cribs. One by the door the other between the 2 beds. 2 big car seats by the coat hanging area. Double stroller by the entrance. We spent a lot of time in the room with 2 babies! I think 19 & 5 mos.

I think Camelot has a suite. We have never chosen it because for our one week stays the HomeWood Suites ends up being the same price. But includes breakfast and m-th dinners. It is less convenient walk. But I'm too cheap to stay at Camelot just for the walk.

Breakfast was really sparse and the indoor pool was disgusting.

The pool area is high and you can watch fireworks from Camelot.

Beds can be rock hard at DI&S, which greatly factored into my feelings of the stay... as did the folliculitis (bacterial infection) and chemical reaction (burn) from an improperly chlorinated pool. Think of the worst sunburn you've ever had (that's what my chemical reaction looked/felt like, just shy of welts), then think of having to put jeans on and head back to Disneyland. Put a HUGE damper on our stay, especially when added to the hard beds and tiny regular room Bestie and I shared.

Oh I should add that we will not be using a pool, so that is not a factor for us.

We stayed at Desert Inn & Suites and were happy. It's no Hilton but I totally fine. Everyone is different but found the beds comfy, the breakfast sufficient (no protein, but enough to get us going with cereal, toast, fruit, coffee- and you can bring it up to your room rather than buying yourself and eating in your room). The rooms are really spacious with lots of counter and dresser space and they provide plenty of towels. We didn't use the pool so can't comment but sounds like you are planning on either. I don't know where Camelot is, but Desert Inn is just across the street very close to the crosswalk so location is excellent. We didn't have a car so can't comment on the parking lot. We would definitely stay there again.

We just returned and stayed at The Anaheim Hotel, previously name was The Plaza. We stayed in a 2 queen bed room. It was average size room. They have queen deluxe which are a bit bigger. Walking distance to parks. We could see Guardians of The Galaxy from our balcony. Rooms have fridge. So we had breakfast in room.

We are at the DIaS right now. As stated, no frills but it is clean and the location can't be beat. Contrary to what others say, I don't find the beds rock hard at all. I think they are nice and comfortable. Lying on it now as I type this lol.

I have stayed at both, and I really think they are very similar. I really think most of the motels along Harbor are pretty similar. I will say I think the Desert Inn has the biggest rooms. But I have found that they are all clean, which is my most important criteria. I stay at whichever one I can get the best price.

I have stayed at both too, and am holding reservations at both for upcoming trip with 12 people.....Camelot will be a smidge more, but includes 3 queen rooms versus 2 A-Parlor Suites at Desert Inn. Camelot is a little further, but I liked the pillows better there, and we would have an extra bathroom. Five out of seven people came down with a stomach bug when we stayed at DI&S, but I've read many other positive reports about them, so doubt we caught it there. One in our party uses an ECV, and we liked the middle elevator better at Camelot.....the one closest to the office was very tight; my recollection is elevator at DI&S was very slow. We liked being next to McDonald's at Camelot and will probably stay there.
