Camelot Inn

Due to my wishy-washiness, I missed out on booking Park Vue. I was feeling super confident for booking there for everything but my dates....and missed it. So, I have made reservations at Camelot Inn, but don't see near as much info on it on these boards as Park Vue. I know I'll now have to pay for parking, and no breakfast, but anyone who's stayed there lately have input? I'd love to hear about experiences at Camelot Inn

I stayed there last November. The room was basic in decor, but as two adults we did not mind. We had a King bed and it came with a sitting area (I think it was a fold out bed). We had a microwave and fridge. The room overall was spacious, larger than other hotel rooms I have stayed in lately. We didn't find it too noisy, during the day some kids running up and down the corridor since we were on the floor with the pool, but not bad. There is an elevator too so no need to drag luggage up stairs like many small hotels/motels. We liked that it was so close and that we had a short walk to the parks. We also liked that it was a short drive to restaurants (we chose to go out to eat two nights after park closing as it was easier than trying to squeeze in dinner in the park). As for breakfast we went to a Walmart marketplace and stocked up, so we just had breakfast in the room each day while getting dressed. Honestly I can't eat the free breakfast at most places due to food allergies so it was fine with me. We got a discount on our room through AAA so it was a good deal for us.

The pool was on our floor and due to the chilly weather (highs in 70s, lows in 50s) we didn't use it but it was clean and a decent size. We could always find a parking spot, but one night we had issues as one or two SUVs/trucks had parked over the lines, leaving spots that couldn't be used so we got the last usable spot in the lot. You pay so you are guaranteed a spot but I don't know if they follow up with guests that take up two spaces instead of one. There really isn't much else to know about it. I believe you could see fireworks from the front of the building as you can see the top of the rides on the upper floors when on the outside hallway.

Thanks for the review! I'll be staying in September and it's nice to hear good things. I'm not jazzed about no breakfast and paying for parking but considering my original hotel was 2 miles away, I'd have to deal with onsite parking and traffic and felt like it was a small price to pay for convenience.

It was sort of dated (forest green, dark wood, burgundy touches) but for us having an in room micro/fridge with a couch and coffee table to eat at more than made up for what it lacked in theming or decor. The walk was also amazing, so for us this trumped staying further away in a nice resort style location as we intended to be in the parks all day. I honestly see very few people ask about it on the boards which surprised me since it is right across the street in a prime location, I can see though how if you have children with you this may be less than a magical choice and you would prefer more amenities. I also had to book two reservations because AAA could only get me two nights and the other two I believe I got on Orbitz. The staff linked the two for me at check in and all I had to do was go down during that day to fill out some paperwork again- we didn't have to move the car or rooms, they let us stay in the same room as if it was one long stay.

I think you don't hear much on the boards about Camelot because it is fine...not exciting, not bad, but perfectly fine. We used to stay there a lot, because when my kids were smaller we would get a suite, and ate in the room for meals at times. There is a small dining table in the suites, and that was handy for us. We stopped staying there when they raised their prices, stopped breakfast, and started charging for parking (and we didn't like the idea of having to valet park), but the accommodations were never a problem. It's dated, but so are a lot of the places on Harbor. The short walk to the parks is great!

I'm editing this to add that I don't know if they still require you to valet park. Thye may have stopped doing this.

I've stayed here on two separate weekends this year. Camelot is actually one of my favorites. You do not have to valet park--we self park. I don't mind the "no breakfast" as I think the neighboring hotels that offer continental breakfast have crappy offerings. The location is great, front desk staff has been very nice both visits, the little on-site store is convenient and the location is great. Rooms are decent, pool area is adequate, beds are comfortable and it's been quiet both times.

I liked the Camelot, better than the Carousel, actually. For the price and location, it's super decent.

I agree with the above - I generally don't like continental breakfasts because they can be a little stale. We're big on breakfast and usually that's the biggest meal of the day when we're at the parks.

I've stayed at the Tropicana, which is the sister hotel to the Camelot, right next door, and it's major advantage is how close it is to the Esplanade. It might be worth staying there just for that reason.

Thank you, thank you, thank you everyone for responding. There isn't much about Camelot and I was a little worried, but not anymore. We usually stay at Worldmark, but it's only my daughter and I this time and location trumped everything else. Now I'm excited!! Sounds like Camelot will be just what we need for this trip.

We stayed there last weekend as Camelot is always our first choice. We were on the 4th floor a little ways down from the pool.

Last year when we stayed at Camelot, we watched the fireworks from the pool area. You can actually hear some of the fireworks soundtrack from there.

Staff was great as usual and we didn't have a problem finding a self-parking space at 7:30 in the morning!

It's next to McD's and Panera is just a little beyond there.
