We are trying to decide between the Camelot and the Tropicana. Has anyone stayed at either or both recently? They are owned by the same company, and the rooms look similar but we are wondering about any differences. We have read mixed reviews about the beds being uncomfortable so would like to hear about people's experiences. I am traveling with my husband and 2 kids, so we booked a double queen room with a sleeper chair. Thanks!

Have you looked at Park Vue Inn? It's right next to the others and great in my experience.
I have stayed at Tropicana and thought the beds were very comfy. Staying again next month. Between the two, Tropicana is slightly closer to the park entrance.

The thing about bed comfort is it's very subjective. People have different preferences for hard or soft, etc. I might think the beds felt good and you might not.

I care most about cleanliness and proximity. Tropicana accomplishes both of these things.

How old are your kids? The sleeper chair isn’t the most comfortable. Our son tried it, and was not a fan. He slept in it one night and then ended up sharing a bed with his brother the second night. He was 13 and 5’6 at the time. I’d say the sleeper chair would be good for maybe 10ish and younger.

I personally think the Camelot is a nicer remodel (nicer in that it feels a little bit higher end than Tropicana) and you kinda get a cool view of the parks there too. It’s right next to McDonald’s which is handy. It’s further of a walk, but not too bad. Tropicana has a nice remodel too. It’s closer. It’s more usual motel style with the pool in the middle of the parking lot. It also has the Cove convenience store.

I think they are having a summer sale still, make sure you check. I’ll post the code.

Both are nice places and I think whatever you pick, you will have a good stay. Have a fun trip!!

The Camelot suite is a great option and it's convenient to be close to McDonald's and Panera!

The Tropicana has a couple of suite types too. There's a family suite with 3 separate rooms. One room has the sleeper chair and two full size beds. Another room has a pullout couch and sitting area. There's also a separate room with a kitchen.

The other suite option at Tropicana is the Park View Suite, which is at the front of the property and overlooks the park and the monorail. You have two balconies and can watch fireworks. There's two rooms, one with a king bed and sleeper chair, along with a shower only bathroom, sink and toilet. The entry room is a sitting area with a pullout couch, sink, and full bathroom with tub and toilet. There is not a full kitchen, just a microwave and minifridge.

The two room types at Tropicana are typically the same price. There's only 4 Park View Suites available at the property.

Thanks for the information and the code! My kids are 10 and 12, so I think my 10 year old would fit okay on the sleeper chair. Did you notice any difference with bed comfort or noise between the 2 hotels? We can get Tropicana for about 200 cheaper, but we don't mind paying more for Camelot if it is better.

Bed comfort was about the same for us. I believe we would compare it to a mattress at a best western. Not the best ever, but not terrible by any means. We sleep on a temperpedic at home and we slept ok at both places. Both hotels were relatively quiet when we stayed. We could hear people above us at Camelot. So if you pick there you might want to ask for the top floor. Camelot is a motel but the cars park under you. It’s hard to explain. Lol. (I added a photo so you can see) Tropicana is a motel but the cars park in front of the rooms like a standard motel. So there might be more noise at Tropicana depending on the cars that park near your room. We did not experience noise from that.

$200 is a pretty big chunk of cash. Can pay for some food or souvenirs. I would lean towards Tropicana for that much of a savings. ☺️

Also added the fireworks view from our room at Camelot. Lol. All the rooms Face that direction.

I’ve stayed at both. We were in a regular room at Tropicana and a family suite at Camelot. They are almost identical. Clean but no frills. The family suite was huge and amazing, but I wish it had 2 bathrooms. I would recommend either place since they are so close to the parks! Tropicana is slightly closer if that sways you at all, but very negligible.

I’ve stayed at both within the past year

It wasn’t my first time at the Camelot (and won’t be my last). I love the family suite, but any room is fine, especially after the (relatively) recent renovations

Love the castle theme of the rooms and the purple and grey, also even though the pool leaves a lot to be desired, the firework view from it is 💯

The Tropicana is fine, it’s a tad closer (we are talking next door….but still, it’s nice to always be closer!
I stayed in a park view suite at the Tropicana a couple months ago, I will say this: NEVER again will I suggest the suite. The bedroom with the king is fine. It’s the “pullout couch” in the living room that is horrendous. Even Disney tired, I didn’t sleep well on it. It was rock hard.

The pluses were two bathrooms and the balcony view.

But a standard room between the two: they are equal in cleanliness, proximity and friendly staff.

Pictured below: the amazing balcony views from the Tropicana (two balcony’s in the park view suite!)! and the awful ground feeling pullout couch

How loud was harbor in the room? Or is the bedroom away from the street? Thanks for the photos!

Stayed at the Tropicana this weekend (haven't stayed at Camelot). Our room was in the front half, ground floor. It's loud. Very poor noise insulation. We were in a connecting room and could clearly hear conversation and a crying baby in the other room. The noise from the guests above us and walking past our room was also clear, and there was plenty of street noise as @maleficent55 mentioned above. Maybe we were just too close to the front of the property? Stayed near the back of Candy Cane Inn last summer and don't remember having any noise issues. I will personally value quiet over the shorter walk next time.

It’s ridiculous really.

I’ve done GCH, Camelot, CGH, Tropicana in this order as of late

Next up is the GCH and I’m very much looking forward to amazing beds and no street racers
