Looking to book this hotel for April 29th thru May 6. Anyone stay here? I haven't seen any recent mention of this hotel on the boards - is it just not as popular, or is there something I should know??

For anyone who has stayed there, any tips on where to request rooms, etc? We are booking a 1 rm suite - from the rm layouts on the website, looks to be 2 seperate rooms, one with a king bed and pullout couch, one with 2 queen beds. Will work great for us (i hope) - 3 kids who all take naps and go to bed at different times - makes it nice to have a separate space for those of us who aren't sleeping at the same time.

Would appreciate any info at all from btdt experts!

Thanks!

We stayed there on our last trip. We had the king size bed and couch room and it was all in one room. The bed honestly was as hard as a rock. You can't beat the distance from the park though. I am not sure if I would stay there again. I usually stay at the motel 6 because its the most affordable tho its really not close enough to walk. I hope this helps.

Hi, I haven't stayed there yet either but will be when we go in March. Most of the reviews I've read on TripAdvisor have been pretty good so I'm hopeful....though like the PP said I have read lots of comments about the hard beds. I've also read that the top floor is best for being able to see fireworks.

We are staying at Camelot in March/April too. We chose that hotel because of the ratings it got in our Disney book, the location, and the price.

According to our book (Bob Sehlinger - Unofficial Guide to Disneyland 2008) he rates the hotel at 3 1/2 out of 4 stars. Room rating was 79 out of 100. And it is only a 7:15 minute walk to Disneyland. (All of this is according to the book.)

The laundromat is a plus in my opinion, just in case. The gameroom is a plus. The room layouts look good (we just got a plain old room, as we are a family of 3). And the free continental breakfast is a plus (even if it is just coffee and muffins).

Never stayed there before, but I am hoping that the book review (plus you can read reviews on this site by searching "Camelot" in the search box up above) plus the reviews I read made me think I made a good choice.
:)

We will be staying at the Camelot for the 4th time at the end of April. DH and I have stayed there, BWPPI, Carousel Inn, CCI, as well as the GC.

Of course we would pick GC 1st, but our budget only allows for that when we get very special rates!

If the CCI were right across from the entrace, we would stay there before the other off sites. However, the walk, while not bad, keeps us from going back there. I like being right across from the entrance.

We've noticed that the last few years, Camelot has been more expensive than the others, ususally around $150 a night. So we stayed at the BWPPI in 2006 and Carousel in 2007.

We didn't like the BWPPI at all, and had a few housekeeping/upkeep issues with the Carousel.

So I was very excited to see a web rate of $111 for Camelot for our Spring trip!! I'm looking forward to returning to our favorite off site hotel! Of course I'm wishing for a very special GC rate between now and then, but I'm not holding my breath!! :rotfl:

Let me know if you have any specific questions.

We're heading to the Camelot on Friday. We're getting a regular room (no suite), but want a good room and location (Disney views, of course!). Any specific buzz words we should use when checking in? Is there a specific area of the hotel we should request to get a good room?

Also, we'll have to check out of the room several hours before going to the airport. Do they have a bell desk where we can keep our luggage?

I stayed there in Summer of 2006. I don't recall much about it other than I thought it was just fine and I would stay there again if I found a good rate. The pool was small but warm. The continental breakfast wasn't anything fancy, but was adequate. And you can't beat the location!

Ohhhh, Vicki, You asked for it!!!

did you stay in a regular room? We've booked a Family suite - 2 rms (one for kids, one for dh and me and whichever kid is keeping the others awake, which always happens to us when we go away from home...)

Any idea where in the hotel the suites are? Any advice on which room to request? I've heard close to the pool is a good place to watch fireworks, but is it noisy near the pool at midday (kids still nap in the early afternoon.)?

How was the breakfast - I've heard mixed reports, but then food is such a 'personal taste' kind of thing. Is there toast, cereal, breads, etc...? Juice and coffee and tea?

Ok - that will do for now - I'll go away and think up more questions....
TIA!

We just stayed there December 2007. Quite happy with the facility. We had the two room suite (king and two queens). The dining room table table was a welcome sight, much easier than sitting with plates balanced on knees. I found the beds to be adequate in the area of comfort, the room was clean and well maintained, very good housekeeping service. The pool, though small, is adequate, warm enough to swim in in December. Wonderful views of the fireworks, the castle and "It's a Small World" lighting ceremonies from the pool deck and upper balconies. Distance to the main entrance is a plus, very close, easy for short legs! Millies supplies room service, good food at reasonable prices.

Clean, convenient,comfortable. ***1/2 out of *****

So, was the room layout exactly as on their website? Our TA was told by Camelot staff that the 2 rm suite has 2 queens in 1 rm, and another queen and a pullout in the other room. The website layout has the king bed, so I am just curious as to what other differences there might be?:thumbsup2 Good to know about the table too - saw it on the website, but TA said no one she talked to at the hotel mentioned it. I may perhaps call them myself in a few days to confirm the ressie and check on a few of these details.

Are all the suite rooms in a certain section of the hotel? Could you see the fireworks from your room, or just from the pool deck? Do the rooms all have outdoor access (motel style) or indoor (hotel style)? Again, as per the previous post, any reccomendations on where we should request a room?

Thanks so much - it's great to hear from those who have stayed here before!

It is a King sized bed plus pull out in one room, and two Queens in the other. I could not tell you if all the suites are in one area. We stayed on the 5th floor, 516, I know that 515, 514, 513 are all suites. The fireworks are visible from the room. The rooms are accessed from the outside (motel style).

I think the other posters answered most of your questions, but I will comment on the pool side rooms. We were right by the pool one time, and were not bothered by noise at the pool.

It's just DH and me, so our breaks don't ususally include naps, we just chill for a bit, change into dry clothes if we've been on Splash or GRR, and rest our feet.

So we probably aren't as sensitive to noise.

We never did the continental breakfast, we are usually too excited to get to the parks, and neither of us are breakfast people. My favorite breakfast consists of a 44 oz Diet Coke!! :rotfl:

I always have to be in the park to see the fireworks, so I can't comment on watching from the hotel. But I do have great pictures of the Matterhorn from outside our room.

HTH!
Vicki
