Only 5 days to go (seriously can't wait !!) but I have a question for those that have travelled with digital camcorders.

I bought one earlier this year but I'm not sure how to take this through the airport. Sorry if this sounds stupid.

What's the safest way ? Will the airport scanners affect the camcorder or the recorded tapes ? Do you carry as hand luggage or put in the hold ?

They usually warn you about photographic film, but I have never had any problems putting the camcorder tapes through the scanners.

at our airport they will ask you to put it in a bin out of the bag by itself if you would like to carry it on. It will not be a problem. (still cameras and laptops have to do the same thing)

from usa all cameras have to be out of there bags and xrayed seperatly this came in last year aug we flew back day it came in force they just took all caameras out of bags and nearley broke them we had camcorder and 4 cameras in the bag DW went mad at them as they wouldent let us take them out. This is due to them thinking that camcorder could be a bomb

Hi,
I guess they must have relaxed the rules as we flew home last Wednesday and left all the cameras in the hand baggage, still had to remove the laptop though. Imho NEVER put cameras in your hold luggage, not because of x-ray machines but because of how baggage handlers treat the bags and cases..!!

Just a litle side tale, when we flew out of Gatwick in April 02, they took all the stuff out of our hand luggae as they did with most other people (only six months after 911 remember) and they asked me to take a picture with the digital still camera and also switch on the digital camcorder. Not sure what this proves, but I have got a photograph of a very suprised woman behind me in the queue

at airport security in germany they always make me turn on my laptop...

They probably fancy a quick game of solitaire

By the way, have you done all the Disney Parks across the world then?
