Our old one broke, which is ok since we wanted to get a newer and smaller one anyway.. But wanted to ask here what one do you suggest that would be good to travel with. Something small to take to the parks and such and not be a pain to lug around, but also that has good quality so if we want to watch a DVD of the trip on the tv its not horrible picture quality. thanks !! :)

We absolutely love our Flip camera. It's very small, very easy to use. There are limitations though, no flash, not as high tech as others out there, and once you fill up the space you have to download, can't put in another card. But, we really love it. They're not super expensive either, a good option for us.

I actually looked into those and was leaning towards them untill i read that there is no light for night recording, and i read they are discontinuing them so if you have any issues you wont be abel to the the tech support or replacements anymore. do you know if thats true? how many hours do you get on it?? if we did go with it anyway, would we need to bring our laptop to upload the card to clear it during the trip?

Yes, it is true. The Flip has been discontinued.

Support will continue for the camera until Dec 2013.

Considering the very low cost of Flip cameras, if I were interested in one, I would probably buy it. I've had mine for almost 2 years with no problems.

There is no card, but if you want to clear out your videos, you have to download to a computer.

thank you so much for the info!!! how is the picture quality on them?? like if we made a DVD to watch ?

Another vote for a Flip! I have the Ultra HD and have recorded hours and hours of great video with it! So easy to use, light, easy to carry, easy to download and much more. Have recorded indoors, outdoors, during the day, at night and all are good.

The 2 hour recording limit might make it necessary to bring a laptop to download.

for the price and ease of use I don't feel you can go wrong.

We have a Kodak sport:

We did not want a Flip b/c there is no card so you are limited to how much you can shoot a day. Also I believe it used AA batteries which gets ridiculous.

The Kodak sport can be recharged and uses memory cards so you can use it as long as the battery allows. It is also waterproof so you can use it at pools/beaches. It is very easy to use and lightweigt-we love ours!

The bundle I linked also includes the gripping tripod which can be used with most point and shoot cameras as well.

We got a Kodak sport for our last Disney trip, and I really liked how small and easy to use it was (also not having to worry about it getting wet.) The only thing I really didn't like was trying to convert it to a DVD. My kids love to watch our Disney movies at home, and it was a real pain to get it on a DVD. Also, it starts/stops every time you hit the record button, so it's not a continuous video, like we're used to. Having said that I still plan on taking it and mainly using that for our upcoming Disney trip.
