Has anyone had any luck with bringing a camcorder on board during these those oh so hot/humid months of Aug/Sept? I'd like to bring mine, but had read they can fog up and create problems for the camcorder. Anyone have first hand experience with a camcorder during this time?

Thanx

We take ours every year and have no problems.....what I do is, when I wake up in the morning, I put the case with the camcorder in it out on the verandah and un zip it about an inch or 2 while we are getting ready and that seems to work for us. In the earlier years, I didn't do this and the camcorder got moisture in it and I had to let it open for a few hours and it was fine.

Hope this works for you :p

Have a great cruise.

We had the fogging problem with our digital camera as well in August...

I took these pics and could not understand why they came out like they did...but then I realized the lens must have been fogged up because we had just come outside into the humidity!!!

I also keep those little packets that come packed in shoes and other products that absorb moisture in my camera bag...they work really well. I also wrap my camera up in a towel when in the stateroom.

Is it this bad during the first week of april ? :( If anyone has had issues please let me know.

I never even thought about the humidity's effect on the cameras. But changing environments will definately have an effect :( I've got a new digital camera I don't want to have problems with and was going to invest in a new camcorder as well.

Something new to think about .

The problems we encountered with humidity only lasted a few minutes each time....there was no long term effect. After the camera was in the humdity for a while the lens cleared and it took beautiful pics!!

Here's another simple solution to the fogging-up problem.

When you want to take your camera outside, first seal it in a zip lock bag while you're inside the cool, air-conditioned ship. Gently squeeze out the excess air before sealing the bag.

Then it's safe to take the bag containing your camera out into the warm, moist tropical air. The cold camera remains surrounded with "dry" air in the ziplock bag, so it doesn't fog up.

In 20 minutes or so, when the camera's temperature warms up close to the outside air temperature, you can remove the camera from the bag and start shooting pictures.

You can re-use your ziplock bag for this over and over.

Have fun!

mmouse37: Actually, I think the "foggy" effect in your pictures looks really cool. It makes it look like it was taken in the morning mist.
