Camcorder - Mini DV vs. Mini DVD?

I'm in the market for a camcorder. Haven't had one one in about 5 years. I know I want a Sony - but I can't decide between Mini DV and Mini DVD.

I like the idea of jut being able to put the DVD in the DVD player and watch what we've recorded - but the thought of only having 30 minutes on each DVD is a bit disturbing.... LOL....

What do you think? What is your experience? What do you have? Do you like it?

Thanks. I really want to get one within the next week so I can get used to it before our upcoming trip!
