I wanted to give my personal opinion on Cambria since when looking to book I didn't find much information on here about it.
We stayed Friday, December 1st to Wednesday, the 6th. Our friends had a suite with a living and kitchen area and separate bedroom with a bunk bed and kind bed. We had a standard room with 2 queens.
I want to preface this review by saying that the staff is top notch in terms of friendliness. That is the only thing going for this hotel though. We entered our room and I smelled urine. Neither my husband or daughter smelled it so we all chalked it up to my extra sensitive nose. They never smell anything when I ask, it's kind of the family joke.
The room was tiny, like the smallest hotel room I've ever been in. You have to turn sideways to get to one side of the bed. There is no dresser to put clothes in either which I really didn't like. The carpet was very warm and filthy, the bathroom was clean and the two showers were nice. Also there was a ton on water pressure.
I had emailed and called in the weeks prior to ask about grocery delivery. I was told they would accept it for us and items would be refrigerated. We got there and our order had been delivered early and was just sitting in the hotel lobby on a luggage cart. When we went to put the groceries away we realized that the fridge was really tiny as well and couldn't fit everything.
The pool area had multiple security guards working and it was the first time we couldn't take our own drinks in. Even my can of sparkling water has to be poured into a clear cup before I could take it in. They have a bar that sells drinks and 3 ounces of wine was $12. I'm not a big drinker but I would have liked to have had a glass of wine while hanging out at the pool at night. I just wasn't going to pay that much for half a serving. The security guards were interesting, they would patrol the perimeter of the pool area. I didn't feel like we were in a high crime area but obviously something has happened to make them have that much security.
Back to the urine smell. I could smell it on and off and on our fourth day we had maid service. When we walked into the room, the smell of urine was so strong my husband and daughter noticed. I called the front desk and let them know it seemed to be coming from a corner by the bed and they sent a housekeeper to clean our bathroom. I tried explaining that we didn't need our bathroom cleaned as it just had been but our housekeeper didn't speak English, I ended up talking to someone else on her phone and they said they'd send maintenance. Maintenance never came so I called the front desk again. At this point my husband and daughter had to leave the room it was so bad. Maintenance came and checked the AC unit, he could smell it but said there was nothing they could do except clean the carpets after we left. He offered to have housekeeping sprinkle coffee grounds on the floor and vacuum it up. I said sure. Again nobody came, I called again and a manager came up. He was horrified of the smell and we ended up moving rooms. It was unfortunate as our original room had a theme park view and our new one didn't but it was our last night.
One other thing we were excited for was the hotel breakfast. I am a sucker for cheap hotel eggs for some reason. Alas these were inedible. The sausage was good and so were the waffles. Breakfast was chaos though. Not from the hotel workers but the people getting breakfast. It made me sad how disrespectful people are by not cleaning up after themselves. The ice machine was out of ice most mornings but so many people were filling their bottles so that's to be expected.
The walk. The walk to Toy Story was long at night. We made it in 15 minutes from hotel entrance to the security at the shuttles each morning and night took us 20 minutes. Morning was a brisk pace. We ended up Ubering the second half of the trip.
All in all we will never stay here again. My husband said it was the worst hotel he's ever stayed at. It wasn't the worst for me but due to how filthy it was, the breakfast, and location it is in the bottom few.
