Help. I'm trying to decide between 4 nights at either the Amerisuites or the Country Inn at Calypso Cay. The rates are only a couple of $ different, so that is not an issue. I've stayed at the Country Inn around 18 months ago and liked it, but am tempted to try the Amerisuites. Has anyone out there have any advice? THANKS

Bump - Just booked the Amerisuites and looking for info. Thanks

We stayed at the Country Inn and Suites and went over to the Amerisuites a couple of times for breakfast and looked around. They are pretty much the same. I think the room set ups might be the only real difference. They share everything else. I think the Country Inn and Suites is the only one with kid suites. www.calypsocay.com may have the floorplans.

I am,as my husband likes to call me a "hotel snob",when we go on vacation we book at least a four star, but, only if a five star is out of our budget. Now that you know this I just stayed at the Country Inn two weeks ago and we had friends that were staying at the Amerisuites at the same time.I was absolutely surprised by the Country Inn,the decor in the room was very nice, breakfast was pretty decent and the pool has a great slide for the kids. The breakfast area is off the lobby facing the pool and they have tables out by a terrace, which was really nice. You have a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker,Iron ,Ironing board and a blow dryer in the room. They also have coffee and tea in the Lobby available during the day.For the price it cannot be beat and the property is in excellent condition. It is a 3 minutes drive to Publix and about a 8 minutes drive to the Premium outlets.

As I mentioned our friends stayed at the Amerisuites, their set up was more like a small kitchenette(refrigerator, microwave, small sink). While we had paper cups in the room they had glasses ,silverware and plates.Their room decor was pretty simple. The breakfast is served by the lobby. She works for Marriott and she was also really surprised by the Amerisuites, she liked it so much she made a reservation to return for Thanksgiving.Forgot to mention that they have Popcorn in the lobby. One thing ,she did mention that the Country Inn seemed more upscale ,if that's possible for $44 a night :teeth:

I personally liked the Country Inn better and plan to return in the near future. ::yes::

Just curious where you got the $44 rate? I stayed there last year and the best rate I could find was $59, thru Valuetrips

Hotel Kingdom has both hotels for $43.88 right now. Also, the brand new La Quinta right beside for the same rate.

We just got back from Orlando, and I stayed there 2 nights.

I chose this place because of the 'suite' aspect(DH likes to stay up late and watch tv, and I want to sleep), but it was not a 2 room suite. There was an open door between the bed and living area. One tv.

I still thought the place was nice. Clean, desk staff was nice, breakfast served from 7-11(muffins, bagels, juice, cereal, frozen french toast). We peeked at the breakfast at the CI & S and it looked like the same stuff. The living area had a sofa sleeper, chair, small table and chair, fridge, micro, coffee maker and some utensils. I signed up for their rewards program and you get free local calls and can request a late checkout(I think it is normally 12 so it is pretty late already). We got to check in early yesterday(around 1). They share the pool area and mini golf with all of Calypso Cay. It was not crowded while we were there, but it might be bad at a busy time. They had some steel drum entertainment and a bar area by the pool. The only problem I had was a screw up with their wake up calls- the computer decided to call me at 4 am. ugh.

I got the hotelkingdom rate of $44, and I had a $10 rate champion, so it brought it down to $34 plus tax.

There is a Publix right down the road.

Any?, let me know.

Thanks guys, sounds great. Will be there in two weeks for two nights prior to moving on site. Looks like a nice place and good price too. Makes one less worry before we go to have info on the hotel.
