Calvin and Hobbes

I do not know anything about Calvin and Hobbes so I am hoping someone here can answer a question for me regarding them. My DS who is 7 would like a Calvin and Hobbes book collection, is this cartoon appropriate for this age? Thanks!

Hi Debbi,
There is nothing in the Calvin and Hobbes books that would be inappropriate for him. Otto jr. loves them (he is 10, but read them before this) and he loves Garfield also. Some of the jokes are kids stuff, a bit gross, but nothing off color.

C & H is a GREAT cartoon/comic. I was so disappointed when it was taken out of the comics section of the newspaper. It is the world as seen through the eyes of young Calvin and his stuffed (real in his mind) tiger, Hobbes.

tiggerlover, Beware! Calvin and Hobbes comics are addictive! We started buying the collections when my son was 8 and now have all the books but Yukon HO! (He's getting that one for Christmas!) My DH and I love the books as much as my son does. I think you will be amazed at the humor, warmth and emotion in the strips. Enjoy!
