Calling to confirm

Is it necessary to call prior to leaving for vacation to confirm your reservation? We have confirmation papers.

Maybe I'm paranoid, but I would fear getting down there and not having a place to stay or eat. I'm doing a split stay using an AP rate for two nights at POP, then renting DVC points for BWV, then two more nights at POP using the AP rate again. I would want to make sure I didn't have any unpleasant suprises come check out time.

I will call a few days prior to my trip to confirm the hotel ressies, dates, rate, my requests, and that it's paid in full, plus all my PS#, and the confirmation numbers for my tours. I will also confirm they have me booked for ME, so I'm not stranded at the airport.

Of course, I'm also the person who makes at least two copies of her airline E-ticket receipt, AP, room ressies, and PS #s. I have a copy in my check in baggage and another copy in my carry on and I laminate a copy of all my PS to go in my fanny pack or back pack for the parks.

We are WDW regulars, and never call to confirm. As long as you have your Disney confirmation papers, and have not made any changes, you are all set.
Disney's reservation system is very, very good.

I would depend on your comfort level. I reconfirm most hotels just to be on the safe side. Not sure about WDW, but the majority of hotel chains oversell by a certain % of rooms. I like to know I spoke to someone at the hotel and that they are expecting me.

Doesn't always help...
Since we were a SOG overflow, I called the night before I left to the AS Music front desk, and the CM assured my he was looking at my reservation, and all was OK. Got there the next day, turns out he was looking at another SOG overflow, with the same last name, first initial, same days!!!!! The only difference was number of people and where we were from. But the CMs were so nice and kept a smile on their faces the wholew time they put me back in the system, and found a room that was ready early (it was only about noon!) and gave me park tips the whole time!!!

If you are questioning whether you should call, go ahead and do it for the peace of mind!
