Can anyone who has recently booked confirm if the directions below are correct for booking a specialty cruise? It is copied from post #1 on DIS for the "sharing a cruise" thread and it is from 2004 posted by Katolyn. So just wondering if 13 years later the instructions are correct as far as press #3, press #2, etc. I could go through the steps myself even though my 180 days is not open until Sunday...but I hate to tie up phone lines for people actually trying to book now.

The post reads:
Since these cruises are so much in demand, start calling about 6:55 am est. If you get a recording that they are not open yet, disconnect and immediately hit redial. If you get the recording thanking you for calling hit #3 right away, as soon as the second recording begins press #2, when the third recording begins press either your reservation number or phone number and finish with the pound sign. Then press #1, then #2. This will take you to a reservationist, if you have to hold do not disconnect or you go to the bottom of the queue.

The recording and options have definitely changed. It's been a couple of months since I called, so I don't remember exactly what I had to press and when, but I do remember referencing that same post before calling and finding that it was outdated. I think you'll be fine calling and listening to the instructions. The problem won't be people calling at the same time as you - it will be people who reached 180 days prior to you and booked sooner.

I just called the number on this page: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/recreation/specialty-cruises/

I called recently and had no issues getting a cruise. It definitely wasn't the first day you could call. I called mid morning too and basically barely waited on hold. Now, for a busier park time, it would likely be harder to get, but for January 28th, no issues getting it recently (like a week or so ago)

Thank you both for info. I had the feeling that page 1 DIS information could be out of date. I am reserving for early May about 4 days into our trip and staying onsite so hoping it is easy to get.
