I live in Spring, off of Louetta, my parents live in The Woodlands and my DD20 just transferred to Tech from UofH.
ETA: Oh, and my dad is Catholic and attends one of the Catholic churches in The Woodlands.[/QUOTE
Oh, how cool! I've seen you frequently on the dis because my DDs think ur sig is just the greatest. Who knows how many times they've tried to do that with our dog. I see ur DH is a firefighter, does he work for HFD? My DH just took his Civil Service Exam and we are awaiting results. If HFD doesn't work out then we'll be looking around for others... Humble, etc...

We know a lot of Houston FF's though! (A little secret: Conroe pays better than Houston - he might want to try it too.)
Good luck to your DH!
Welcome!!!DisnyMama said:Hi everyone! DS and I have been living in McKinney since 8/2/06. We came out from So. California and love it here. Yeah it's hot but when we left CA. it was 106 so it can only get cooler from here (I hope). I really feel bad for the folks here with the water restrictions. I just moved into a new townhome and the new plants/shrubbery they planted outside my front door are dying because they can't water them. There are three things that I have noticed here. 1) Really Big churches everywhere. 2) Animal hospitals all over. and 3) The Texas State flag proudly waves everywhere. I have never, in Calif. seen the state flag flown the way I have since I hit the state of Texas. You can see Texans are proud of their state and they should be.

. Planogirl, we'd love to see you again, too - it's been a long time
. And anyone else in the area, too

twoprincesses said:I think anywhere pays better than HFD! His family has this whole City of Houston employment tradition. His dad is in HPD, so is his uncle, his aunt is Assistant Executive Chief in HPD, his godfather is a Captain in HFD, so on and so on. I told him to give it up already and try Austin. I remember reading somewhere that Austin was one of the highest paying and they are always hiring. I totally forgot about Conroe! We actually have a time share out there at a resort call Piney Shores. Great to know they pay better. I'll be sure to let DH know.
