We are scheduled to be at HRH 8/2-8/6. A big part of the attraction at HRH is the basketball hoop in the pool. Initially, we could not get a reservation at HRH for our dates--only at RPR. I booked RPR for $159/nt and figured DS would just have to pool hop. Since HRH is really the fav for our whole family, I contacted the HRH directly and since we are Loews Plat, they were able to get us into our favorite room for $199/nt. I later found out the RPR now has a hoop in the pool. I hemmed and hawed and finally today decided to spend the extra $$ and cancel RPR and go ahead with the HRH reservation. For some reason I decided to contact the HRH and inquire about the hoop in the pool. Guess what!? They say there is no hoop! :faint:

So, for anyone who has been to HRH recently...is the hoop there or not? I am hoping the employee is incorrect! Thanks!

We were there on the 16th from 10am to 10:30pm (cabanas 7 & 8) and never saw a basketball hoop.

So, how did your dh like the villa suite? Sorry we missed you!

Thanks, Goofy. I was afraid of that. I was able to rebook the RPR at the AP rate of $159. Reservations told me only King rooms are available, but I called the RPR directly and was able to get us into room 1740 which is a Queen room with a great view of the parks.

DH and I both loved the villa suite. I think we ran into some of your clan on Monday night in the elevator. A young boy asked if we had been to the parks yet and we said we had. When I asked him the same Q he said he'd been there for 10 days and had gone plenty of times. He was with a woman who, if I remember correctly you were traveling with your mom(?), who also gushed about the place.

I am trying to get around to writing a report about my experience.

Wow, that's dedication, booking a room based on where there is a pool hoop. Well, maybe it will work out, because on my recent visit, the RPR pool had two hoops, and plenty of basketballs. They also had a volleyball net up with a bunch of people on each side. I think you already saw my report here.

You do realize, you could have pool hopped, even if it meant taking the boat over or walking?

Yes--we have pool hopped before when we stayed at RPR and DS wanted to shoot hoop in the HRH pool. Given that DS will stay 6-8 hours in the pool at a stretch, it is easier for me to keep tabs on him if he is actually in the pool at the hotel where we are staying. I do plan to pool hop a bit myself to ride the slides at PBH and HRH. Hopefully DS will go with me.

Yes, I did see your prior post and pictures on the hoop at the RPR pool. Thank you for posting those.

I just got back from a visit. Yes, it's true, the HRH pool does not have a basketball hoop. Instead, it's a nerf football pool. There's about 5 of them in there with people throwing them to each other.

And I gotta tell you.... if I got hit in the head by those *%@ footballs one more time while I was there last week! :)

Seriously, no basketball hoop. Just those dog-gone footballs sailing endlessly across the sky. (You can buy them at the kiosk.) Every time I thought I'd found a safe place to float, I'd find myself in the middle of someone else's football game. Don't know who came up with that idea, but .... a basketball hoop sounds a lot better.

(Don't want to sound like a kill joy. Hope you guys will cut me slack on that.)

Julie
