Calling hotels directly for discounts

Can you call the hotels and ask if they have discounts? I've been to mousesavers and there are no discount codes for the dates I have already reserved at AKL. My friend just went to the disney resort directly that she picked and they had discounts, although she tried mousesavers and there were no codes either.

I didn't think that was possible. Have you all tried it?

I wouldn't think so. If there is a code available, then dealing with Disney directly will get you what you need. You really should be calling CRO (or whatever they're called today!) directly. I don't think I have ever heard of someone calling the resort directly to reserve a room and get a code that wasn't available elsewhere.

FOR NON-DISNEY owned hotels a call directly to the hotel (not the 800 central reservation number) might get you some managers specials that aren't available on the web or from the 800 number. AFAIK call the hotel at Disney for reservations will just get you the same rates as if you called CR.
