Calling Halloween Cruisers!

Good Morning Suzanne, Thanks for repling quickly with your information.

Have you thought about a "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" sign on your stateroom door?

We are trying to decide, should we go to the parks before or after the cruise. Last year we stayed at OKW before the cruise and did WDW, Mickey's Not So Scarey Halloween Party was fun. Thinking about Universal this year. Decisions, decisions, decisions.

I'm hoping my Disney Store stuff comes today. I've already started my "cruise" box of stuff (just a couple of little things), but I keep it hidden in the basement so DH doesn't discover my obsession with all things Disney.

Ellenj, I'm so excited to hear you have a DD (9) coming. Mine turns 9 in June, and can be a little shy when she doesn't know anyone, so as it gets closer we can "introduce" them. Also, my DS (6) insists he wants to be Sully from Monsters, Inc, which means one of the full-coverage costumes, too. I keep telling him he'll be too hot, but he is adamant. I'm trying to find one on eBay, or hopefully Target will carry them again this year...

Ginger, I should have said that *I* am not lie-on-the-beach people....the rest of my family would love it! I inherited my Scottish grandfather's skin, so lie-on-the-beach day could quickly become visit-the-local-hospital day for me. If I can find a shady spot to take a little siesta and read a book, I'm all for it. Otherwise, I prefer to be moving around so I don't feel like I'm just a human rotisserie. I am the Sunscreen Queen, but direct sun next to water is my natural enemy

I think I've posted all our info, but here it is condensed:
* The Schroeder Family: Mark 42, Andrea 38 , DD Maggie 9, DS Luke 6
* Cabin 6048
* Arr. MCO 10/25 in the am, renting from Avis to Cocoa Beach to spend the day doing....something. Maybe KSC, which I'd love.
* Staying at the Raddisson that night.
* Renting Avis back to MCO on the 2nd, dont have exact travel times yet. But we won't be giong to the parks, since we're doing them in May.

Oh Andrea no hosiptal visits, please. We did that excursion on cruise number 2, not a fun one. We'll just call you Shady Lady. KSC is great, you'll love it.

We are the Sparr family: Bill, Ginger, and Ashley 5.
Stateroom 5524
Driving down from Maryland.
We'll be at the Radisson maybe the 24th, for sure on the 25th.
We got the $99. Fall Special.
I think we'll be hittting the parks, Universal and The World before the cruise. I'm going to call DVC to see what's available at OKW.

Wow, been doing a lot of over time at work and have not really been keeping up with the boards…. an occasional peek, but no time to post. You guys have really been rallying the troops.

Ginger – Thanks for posting the stuff from last year’s navigator. I was wondering if Disney would plan any special Halloween events. Those paired up with what this group put together should make this a very special cruise.

Pryd – The Halloween cruise shirt sounds like a winner. Looking forward to getting more details.

Aks22 – definitely keep us posted on the Pirates Week and Fantasy Festival. When we realized that a Halloween cruise would mean being able to visit Key West and Grand Cayman during these special events, it sealed the deal for us.

Can’t wait to meet everyone and am trying to think of some creative way I can contribute to the group.

Any more Halloween posters? Please add your info and keep this thread on the first page of the board!

Excellent idea!! I'll have to get one at the dollar store and put it in my 'box'! (LOL about the box that is in the cellar, Andrea!)

I have been enjoying reading the postings about the 10-26 cruise. I had not even clicked that it covered Halloween. It was just when we could get away.

My DH and I will be going and meeting other friends. All of us are in the grandparent age-range: they have two grandkids, we have none.

My DH will celebrate his birthday on the 29th just like Joshua except Tom is older. He is not the kind of person who likes public displays in a restaurant and I am not sure he would even like a sign on the door, but I may try the latter, thanks for the idea.

We had hidden porthole room 5020 last time and wanted it this year, but someone beat us to it so we asked for and got the same stateroom as our first Disney Magic cruise.

Welcome JLSE50, thank you for posting.

If you would like to gain some grandparenting experience while on this cruise I am sure that my 5 yr old DD, Ashley would love to have you. Be warned though, you'll only get to see her when the Oceanears Club is closed.

I had to book my secret porthole stateroom 2 years in advance.

Welcome, Jan! I look forward to swapping more fun ideas for our cruise...

(if you don't dare put a sign on the outside of your stateroom, maybe you could put on on the inside door at least. ;) )

I got all of my stuff from the Disney store and am so excited about how big the Admiral Mickey and Sailor Goofy are! I thought they were little beanies. I guess I should read the description next time...

For you birthday cruisers, eBay has DCL "it's my Birthday" pins for sale, about $6-10 I think.

Today I got another DCL brochure in the mail, placed an order from the catalog, picked out which gifts to send myself for the start of the cruise, and bought a cruise travel log on eBay. I absolutely need to join a 12-step Disney Recovery program.

I thought that the "It's my Birthday" pins were complimentary if you had proof of birth date. Where do I find out about getting Tom a pin?

We have not gotten any cruise brochures. Andrea--you got "another"??? That implies that you have gotten some before. How did you get on that mailing list?

What great stuff did you buy for yourself? What is the cruise travel-log like that you bought on e-bay? I thought I was overboard on all this--I am in good company!

Ginger--I am a pediatric physical therapist and see kids all the time. I do not go on cruises because I need kid-time or grand-kid time, I go because I like kids and Disney does cruising best. I look forward to meeting all your kids, but I am not going to be any overbearing "grandmother" person.

Suzanne: The sign on the inside of the door is a good one!!
(Our first Disney Cruise was the Honeymoon we never had for our 30th Anniversary. Tom said the probationary period was up, so we could take a honeymoon. I had a photocopy of an ad for a poster of Mickey and Minnie dancing in formal attire that I posted in our room.)

I haven't received any brochures either...
I'd also like to know how you got on the mailing list.

re: birthdays...
I'm going to start a birthday thread. Another idea I thought of to decorate the room for the birthday would be balloons!! They certainly wouldn't take up much space! :) (oh & tape to hang them up along with the BD sign)

I absolutely need to join a 12-step Disney Recovery program.
Don't bother!! because I'm sure the first thing they would tell you would be to stop hanging around with us! ;) ;) ;) :D

Hi All,

This will be my first cruise. It's actually my honeymoon. We are getting married on the 25 and driving up Saturday morning. I will be 29 and my fiance' will be 26. We are hopeing to meet lots of other Disney fans, my family and friends think we are kind of strange because we love Disney so much. We go to Disney at least 4 times a year. I think it would be fun to get involved with people planning mucho fun. We would like to be included if it is not any trouble. I live in South Florida and if you need info or someone to make local calls for information I am willing. Please email me directly at my work email cbartos@sunsentinel.com. This is where I do all my planning. I have to check my reservation for cabin #.

Thanks alot,

Charlie

Here's what happened:
About a month ago I decide I had to have a new DCL marketing CD-ROM (we have the video and CD-ROM from last year). I went to the DCL site, but kept getting an error message saying my request couldn't be processed every time I input my mailing info to receive new information. Then I called the 800# listed on the site, and went through the automated prompts to order it, but they only offered a video or brochure. So I called again and spoke to someone who told me he didn't think they make the CD-ROM anymore, but he took my mailing info and promised to send one if he could find one.
Fast forward to last week, when I received the video and brochure on the same day. Then I got another video. Then another brochure. Then ANOTHER brochure. I have quite a collection. The only thing I don't have is the CD-ROM, which is all I really wanted.
To start this cycle for yourself, go to the DCL site and click on information request, or call the number listed. You'd think I'd have it memorized, but I don't.

I am ordering goodies from Magical Memories (on Barb's www.castawayclub.com site) to be placed in the stateroom when we arrive. I will tell not my hsuband I paid for these, so let's keep it a secret, okay? I'm getting the duffle bag for each of my kids and a snack basket for us.

I did a separate post about the travel log. It is so cool! I'm surprised they don't sell them. It is a spiral-bound book with several different sections: favorite places on the ship, ports of call, favorite Oceaneers Club activites, photos, autographs, journal entry, etc. It has an attached ribbon to hold it closed and act as bookmark. It has a gold seafarer Mickey on the cover (which I immediately recognized as the cover of the current brochure with which I am so familiar). I emailed the seller and asked if he could find me another. Barb (antigeg) thinks she may have one, too. I'm in trouble if I end up with just the one.

The birthday pins probably are free when you're on the ship, but why get something free when you can pay for it?!?!?!?! I'm headed to the garage to make some twenties this afternoon...

Charlie:

The e-mail address you gave us did not work. It keeps sending the mail back.

Got another?

Or better yet e-mail me with it if you can

pryd1@lvcm.com

Thanks

Suzanne: I love the balloon idea. I have a package of water balloons that I could use for that project! I will see what else I can find and add it to the "cruise bag." Instead of a box in the basement I have a the red Mickey Disney store bag in my closet and I put my cruise stuff in there. Where is the Birthday Thread?

Charlie: welcome aboard. You will love this cruise. Enough time and space for couples and enough proximity to families and kids. It is a great blend of "normal life."

Andrea--where is the separate post about the travel-log? What are the dimensions?
Are the brochures you got the one with Mickey at the Helm on the cover and the matching video, or something else?

I am so glad I have met you all!
Have a super day,
Jan :earsgirl:

Welcome, Charlie & Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!! My dh & I went to WDW for our honeymoon. :)

Jan, here is the birthday thread

Birthday Thread
Unfortunately it didn't get much of a response. :(

Give it time, Suzanne, Not everyone checks the boards frequently. It may pick up. You have advertised it to our thread, others may see it there and connect. Hang in there girl,
Jan :earsgirl:

The post on the travel log is here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=190357

It's just me asking if anyone has another I could buy. The seller had another, so I got one from him. I can't copy the picture, but it is item #1093594639 if you want to see it on eBay. If you want one, Barb may have one, but Iknow others have asked already. Good luck!

"This journal book measures 5 ½” by 7 ¼” and was produced as a promotional item for Disney Cruise Line during its Inaugural period. It’s spiral bound with an elastic ribbon that keeps it closed. Features six different sections separated by tabs to mark a child’s Disney cruise vacation: (1) Maps, (2) Ship Info, (3) Children (for favorite children’s programming activities, (4) journal (like a diary), (5) photographs, and (6) special (star charts and note pages). "

And yes, the brochures/videos are the Mickey in rain gear at the helm.

Hello Fellow Halloween Cruisers! My DH Paul and I will be on the 7 night Halloween cruise. We will be celebrating our 6th anniversary on October 26. We are both 45. This will be our 2nd Disney cruise. I booked our Halloween cruise last June and have been enjoying reading these boards. We will be staying at the Swan two nights before our cruise thanks to the great deal I read about on these boards. I also purchased the Halloween decorating kit at our Disney Store after Halloween and it's inside my suitcase. (Great Disney minds think alike!) All the activities sound great. We would love to join everyone for the brunch on Monday. Our stateroom is 6578.
I think this will be our best vacation ever! Patty :earsgirl:

Hi Everyone, Hey do you want an idea for a birthday present or a cruising present. Take a look at what Ray "PRYD" has designed.
prideproductions.com/new_page_6.htm

I know the password, but don't tell anyone : Cruiser

Those polos would be perfect for Men or Women to wear in the dining rooms. You could even wear it to Palo's. I'm going to get an ex large black tank top to wear over my bathing suit.
