Yeah, welcome home! We're sounding pretty good actually although with 5 days to go you would expect it really. I have a concert tonight, our annual summer concert and I had rehersal this morning. It went pretty well I think. I also got my SATs back, level 7s all round (really good results) and I'm in a science fair and helping little kids build towers outta marshmallows and spaggetti on Friday. So yeah, that's my life in a nutshell.

Good Luck Emma!!!!
We all know you'll do great!
Glad you got home okay Jan. You left the east at just the right time. High yesterday and today in the mid 90's with the dew point around 75. According to the weather channel the highest dew point on the east coast is in Portland Maine. So much for being cooler in the north. By the time we get there in August I figure it will be cooler than that.
Hope everyone has a glorious 4th!!
Estelle

Thanks, it went really well and we've had some great feedback, one lad came up to me and said "How on earth do you sing like that? You were great and you all look so pretty on stage!" and some1 said 2 the teacher who runs senior chior "That isn't a school chior, that's a real chior!" I just had my last rehersal before Venice and now a big fuss has kicked off about rooms. Jeez, it's gonna be mad tomorrow, good job I'm not in any lessons cos of a science fair and helping little kids make marshmallow and spaggetti towers!

EVERYONE: :D Thanks for the support and sympathy. :D Fortunately all that was damaged is pretty easily fixed and that is why we have insurance. Of all the things that could have happened, this stuff was pretty minor. And NO ONE GOT HURT!

EMMA: Glad the concert went so well. Wonderful compliments to you and the conductor!! :)

I saw pictures of some Cub Scouts making robots of cheese and pretzel sticks. I have heard of marshmallow and pretzel stick structrues, but not spagetti. Clever.

ESTELLE: We had that 90 plus degree weather and high humitidy all the way to see my Mom, and on the way home on Monday. :sunny: It was 98 to 100 Tuesday and yesterday. Not sure of the humidity--I would rather not know. :sunny:

Today it is 90 and since it is :sunny: "so much cooler"
;) Tom is mowing the lawn. Every 20 minutes I take him water and rinse out the towel around his neck.

Right now it is thundering and there is one black cloud but I do not think he is thick enough to rain and if he does it will not make much difference.

Jan :earsgirl: (and Tom :earsboy: )

Well Jan at least you have a black cloud. We just have heat and humidity. They keep saying tomorrow will be only in the 80's but so far no evidence as to why they think this. Took me a minute to figure out you meant the rain cloud was going to rain and not Tom. Told you the brain was getting fried.
Just watched a program on the Discovery Channel about the 7 Wonders of America. And just happened to hit the one about the Disney Wonder and the Magic. They had some fascinating video of the front half of the Magic being towed from the Italian ship yard where it was built to the ship yard where the stern was being built. Had to tow her down the coast of Italy for about 150 miles. Then they put her together and the rest as they say is history.
Emma good luck in Italy. You will all do fine and I am sure you will WOW the audiences there. Estelle

Yes, I meant the cloud would rain, not Tom. Turns out it did rain--a mile away. Much later we got about 10 drops.

There is a movie about the making of the MAGIC that someone said was shown on one of the cruises she went on. I wonder if it will be shown on the MAGIC during our cruise?

I have a book we got as a souvineer on our first cruise. It was made available on some of the first cruises. It tells about the design and building of the ship. I can bring it along if anyone wants to see it. It is a VERY SPECIAL souvineer for us.

:D :D :D HAPPY JULY 4 :D :D :D

Jan :earsgirl:

Rain!!! If you have any extra could you please send it our way. It's so dry here that the bees are flying into our pool for a drink. Our grass is so dry that it crunches under foot. I have been watering my veggies gardens but I feel guilty doing it. Our water levels are very low. My truck is so dirty I hate to drive it, but I'm to cheap to take it to a car wash. LOL

Ya'll have a good day. :D

60 hours till I go to Venice and to be honest, I'm dreading it. I've been left outta the room arrangements by my so called friends and I have to share with people I barely know. Some week I'm gonna have.

Emma Been there done that. I still remember (i'm old) a nasty trip in high school when my friends "arranged" for me to share a room with a girl I had never met. The good part is that she is still a very good friend and those other friends I have no idea what happened to. My DH says that since it is summer in Venice nose plugs might be a good idea. Hes' been there and says the smells are "interesting." Still good luck and enjoy yourself things have a way of working out.

Ginger the humidity dropped here but we got NO rain. The forecast says not until maybe Monday. Our back yard has turned white. Apparently clover likes it hot and dry. And I think all the rabbits have gone to wherever they can find air conditioning.

DD needs to make a call and I'm off to work. Estelle

But now I've fallen out with some1 about it and she just can't seem to see that what she's saying is that it's ok for me to cry my eyes out about it but if I upset her it's wrong.

Emma you're going to be fine. Go to Venice share the room with the people you barely know and make the best of it. When you see your so called friend never let on that it's bothering you. Let her think that your having the time of your life. Soon you'll see that she is probably jealous of you.;)

EMMA: I am seconding Ginger's advice. Don't let them know you are upset. Put a good face on it. Abraham Lincoln said that People can be just about as happy as they want to be. If you do that you will drive them all nuts!!

I was reading some of this thread to my son's best friend and he said that sometimes these things work out for the best. He spent a whole year living in college with a fellow he did not know because the other friends had made arrangements otherwise and it turned out that his parents knew Nate's parents and the boys had played together when they were little. Other times it does not work out so well, but just think--soon we will be on the ship!! And you can wear that witchy dress.

You will have a grand time and maybe like Estelle, your new roommates will become chums for life, not superficial short-term friends!

JAN :earsgirl:

Hello again all!

Sorry that I have not posted lately, however been very busy. Why do we all love summer so much when all we have to do is work?

I'm going to Kings Island next Tuesday to check it out, haven't been there in about 10 years.

Hope everyone had a good 4th.

Dan

P.S. So any clue what everyone is dressing up as? Someone still working on a trick or treat map for the kids?

njfamily and I exchanged emails re: TorT map - she's planning to do a formal rollcall in early August and get the thing finalized.

DS has his costume (bought it on ebay) and I'm pretty sure what DD is going to be - we have no clue as to what we might dress up as right now.

Enjoy The Beast - LOVE that ride!

What great advice, Ginger & Jan! I agree with them, Emma.

I have no idea what ds will be dressing up as for Halloween. I guess we'll just wait until October when the costumes come out in the stores. (I'm not creative!) I'm not sure if dh & I will be dressing up or not.

Well I've decided that I'm gonna share with Brandi and deal with it. I'm gonna have to apoligise to Emma as usual cos she won't admit she's wrong but Brandi'll probably do my hair for me! Thanks guys.

Emma: I know how much you were looking forward to this trip. You'll do fine. Enjoy this chance of a life time singing at the cathedral in Venice. By the way, my friends left today for London. Patty:earsgirl:

EMMA: We are alll proud of your grown-up attitude. :D

Brandi sounds like a special kid :D. This other Emma would probably be less fun :( to hang around with since she seems to want to be the center of attention

We will be interested to hear what you think of Venice (are you taking nose plugs? and whether you needed them) and what you sang and where you went and all that.

HAVE A GREAT TIME !!

Jan :earsgirl:

Thanks! It's gonna be SO kool, I made up with Emma and Kit-kat has promised not to leave me in the day so it'll be the best holiday EVER! I'll try and bring the CD with me in October so you can hear what we sang. I can't wait!!!!!

Do you have a CD player with little speakers so several can listen at the same time?
Have a great time.
See you in October!
Jan :earsgirl:
