Our first trip is fast approaching and we are traveling with 2 babies (22 months and 8 months). You have no idea how much I will appreciate your insight! :love2:
**mainly our 22 month old will be riding with either me or dad :)

What do you think of these attractions for our "must do" list at MK?
What is the best way to hit them at the park to avoid backtracking?
adr for CP 10:05am Wednesday
adr for CRT 2:35pm Thursday

Adventures of Winnie
Buzz
Dumbo
Peter Pan
Barnstormer
Small World
Pirates Caribbean
(is this still around?)

I'm not sure if you could take an 8 month old on those rides, but your 22 month old will like most of the list. I think there's a height requirement for the Barnstormer, so my youngest didn't do that. The baby will love the Small World boat ride. My 2 1/2 year old was initially bothered by some of the dark scenes in Pooh, there's a funhouse sequence he didn't like and a thunderstorm. But it didn't keep him from going on it again, and after the first time it didn't bother him anymore. He liked Peter Pan and Buzz also, but we did those after Pooh, so he was getting used to dark rides. I would head to Dumbo first but Buzz fills up fast too. We didn't do POTC b/c we thought it might be too much for the kids.

You can take an 8 month old on any ride without a height restriction, so Goofy's Barnstormer is out as a family ride - although one parent can ride with the 22 month old as long as she/he is at least 35 inches tall; then, if the child likes it you can kidswap and the other parent (the one who waited with the baby) can ride.

Also, while you can all ride Buzz, you'd need two cars - I don't think it's advisable to spin the car the baby's in. Again, you should be able to do a kidswap here.

Oh! But to actually answer the question you asked (sorry)

Buzz
Pooh
Dumbo
Peter Pan
Small World
Barnstormer
take the train around to FrontierLand; walk to Adventureland
Pirates (yes, it's still around)

You should be able to get this all done before your CRT lunch on Thursday.

On the other hand, Dumbo is among the lowest capacity attractions in all four parks, so you may want to start your day there:

Dumbo, then circle around FantasyLand hitting as many attractions as you can before your CP ADR on Wednesday; then Pirates; take the train over to Mickey's Toontown, ride Barnstormer, walk to FantasyLand, ride whatever you missed, then hit Buzz.

thank you for the responses. I should have clarified that we wouldn't be taking the 8 month old on most of the rides. I am mainly thinking for my 22 month old :) I hope no one thinks I'm a bad mommy...I added that to my initial post :)

I think the rule on small children for many rides is no lap sitting, so if your 8 month old will sit on the seat they can ride, but if they will not you are more limited. Pirates will let you hold a baby, I think. I know my neice went on it at under a year.

If Dumbo is on the list it is MUST DO FIRST and get to the park within 15 minutes of opening. Use Fast Pass and the baby swap. Your list of rides will be easy to complete. Consider also the Jungle Cruise which is another that the yougest can go on.

If you have not already checked out a few tour books I think it would be a good idea. The Unofficial Guide and Passporter are good for some things. The best park touring advice avaliable is a pay to view website. www.tourguidemike.com I think it is $28.00 to join and it is the best money you can spend. They will refund the rntire amount if you do not like the site/info.

I don't think anybody thinks you're a bad mommy (okay, I can't speak for the rest of the world but I know I don't think you are :)) but you actually can take the baby on more rides than you think. Naturally, YOU know what's best for your own children, but you might be pleasantly surprised! And if you or your DH or one or both of the kids (or any combination) needs a break, a couple of times around Tomorrowland Transit Authority is a nice break.

thank you so much :) I truly appreciate your feedback :)

We took my DD when she was 7mo - turning 8mo while we were there and she went on all the rides you mentioned except Barnstormer and had a great time. We asked all the castmembers and they said we could hold her on all of the rides. She loved them and none were too crazy for her. They don't have a height restriction so i am not sure why anyone would think you were a bad mommy even if you did take your DD on these rides (like I did)

I would hit Dumbo first and then take your pick of anything in fantasyland. I believe that Toontown opens at 10am (they did when we were there) and go right to Barnstormers if you didn't need and pictures taken with the characters

We've been taking DS (now 2) since he was 5 weeks old. As a baby - he loved everything we took him on. At 8 months I think he was just in awe of everything around him. The baby probably won't be the problem. Now that he's 2, he has develpoed some aversions to dark/loud rides. He used to love Buzz, Pooh, Peter Pan, and Pirates - now he freaks out. Some of his favs that you might want to consider for that age are the carousel (his new FAVORITE ride!!!), the race cars, tea cups (we let him try to spin it), and Jungle cruise if the 22 month old likes animals. DS was just barely tall enough on his second birthday to ride Barnstormer and loved it! The ADRs sound great! Just remember to relax and go on their schedules. Whenever we plan stuff, DS reminds us he's in charge... ;) Just meaning, expect the unexpected with the little ones. Disney is even more amazing through their eyes - enjoy it!!! :goodvibes

okay this post brought tears to my eyes :)
I can't wait to go!!

Just wanted to say that our first family vacation was to WDW when DS was 22 months and DD was 11 months. It was our best vacation so far. We took them on everything without height restriction and we always sat together in ride vehicles. I have such fond memories of that vacation. The CMs always made such a fuss of the children and we all hade a great time. We are going back in 18 days with DS-7, DD1-6 and DD2 who is now 15 months. I'm really looking forward to it!

No, no, no, please take the 8 month old on these (no Barnstormer or Dumbo -if she'll sit next to you). I took my kids at 4 months including POTC and they loved them all. My youngest was always entranced by Pooh and my middle one loves them all. You know your child , see how they do and take it from there. Good Luck it will be alot of fun!!!! :wizard:

now I have chills after reading even more of these sweet responses...I love hearing about the wonderful Disney memories. Thank you again and I am so excited to experience this with my family. Our first Disney World trip. I can't wait :flower:

How did they do on the "drop" part of the ride? As a first time rider last year, I didn't know that drop was coming and although it's a relatively small drop, I tend not to like drops. My DD, who was still goosey from the ToT ride, didn't like it... Other than the drop, I found the ride to be very enjoyable. We rode it at night so don't know if it's always that dark inside the ride?

May I add a few things to your list? :)

If your oldest likes Dumbo, an identical ride (except that it has the addition of spitting camels) is Aladin.

"Non-ride" rides
Tiki Room .. even the waiting room is neat

Carossall of progress (ok, I have a cold and it seems to have wiped out my ability to spell!) which is basically theater seats.

Pinnochio Village Haus- is a restaurant with seats which overlook It's a Small World and I found it was cool to just watch the show for a bit, esp before going on the ride.

Beside barnstormer is a playground where the 'floor' is made of that rubbery squishy stuff and there are water jets. It's donald duck on a boat themewise. Great place to let them play.

Across the 'street' from that is mickey and minnie's houses :) Not only do you get to meet the big guy (and it's the only professional picture we bought. Was a had to have for us) but the homes are cool. way cool.

[bet i'm going to be sorry for posting while sick! bet i made a milliion mistakes! lol]

y'all have fun there!

Have you read the UG? I highly recommend it especially for first timers with concerncs about MK iteneraries :earsboy:

I would also suggest riding the riverboat and visiting Tom Sawyer Island if you need a break. It's usually pretty quiet so you can find a shady spot to rest or your 22mo can run a little wild without running into people and strollers.
