Dreamflight..

I can see from your posts that you are truely a Dolphin expert, please help me. I am going to the food and wine festival with my best friend in Nov (Nov2-5). Just the two of us... no kids, no husbands. We are staying at the Dolphin, standard room for $147 a night with the Entertainment rate. I have been to Disney 7 times before and have always stayed at Disney resorts. My friend has never been and doesn't understand what I find so intriguing about Disney. The Dolphin was all I could find that was not booked and over priced. Do you think that there is any chance that we could be upgraded to a balcony room? Even better would be a balcony with a view of EPCOT. I am also a Starwood Preferred Guest and have 2400 points banked. Should I e-mail the Dolphin and special request the room or should I try at check-in?? What do think? I would love to surprise my friend with a spectacular view of EPCOT from our balcony. I know that this would hook her for life and then we could vacation together with our families. Please advise.

I'm not DF but here's my 2 cents if you wish -

Request room 0821 - east wing. It was our balcony room with a spectacular view of Epcot and Illuminations. I received this as a comp upgrade - I am Gold spg. E mail the request now and call about 3 days before check-in.

Good luck - the Dolphin is fantastic and with this view, your friend will "get" the magic of WDW. :D

ahhh, Mouseteacher, another expert!!! Thank you soo much for the room suggestion. Do you think it could happen for me? The time that we are going is also the dreaded Jersy week. Do you think the Dolphin will be at max. capacity?? I am so excited. :bounce:

Cantw8~YES...as mouseteacher posted, email your request promptly, and explain in detail your travel plans (pleasure as opposed to business, etc). Also, be sure to mention your SPG membership status. ::yes:: I'm sure they will try their best to accomodate you, and with proper advance notice, may be able to secure your request in advance. :goodvibes

Thank you for the kind reference (*Dolphin Expert!). There are many on this forum just as qualified to answer all your questions. Sorry about the PM box...I try my best to keep it open! (LOL).

TTFN...DF99 :wave2:

I was able to get a free balcony room upgrade even though the hotel was very busy with a huge convention. I booked a standard room (with the entertainment card rate) and asked for an upgrade through their website.

Good luck :Pinkbounc
