Hi guys!
We have just booked the 11 night Euro Cruise :cool1: and were considering visiting Port Aventura before the cruise. Would love to hear from anyone who has been! How far is it from Barcelona airport and how easy is it to get there?
Where did you stay?
Would like to hear the good, the bad and the ugly! :rotfl:

Hi Debs.

Joanne (poppyanna) has been recently and she did a great trip report in the UK section.....it's probably a few pages down now. I'll see if I can find the link for you.

Was just about to say the same thing :)

Thank you so much, a great trip report with some lovely photos! Is the trip from Barcelona to Port Aventura by train an easy one? We are thinking of flying into Barcelona and taking the train or bus straight to Port Aventura for a few days, then spending a few days in Barcelona itself before the cruise!

Would love to hear from anyone else who has been and/or stayed in the on-site hotels. Also, some more about the rides there!!!

We drove there in 2003 and stayed at the closest resort the Port Aventura. Very impressed with the themeing (compared to uk themeparks not the us ones). We used the resort as a base and drove to Barcelona. Parked up and went to the Hard Rock Cafe and then did the bus tour. drove back in the evening.

We are planning to go back next July. We hope to take some friends with us but once again drive there so not sure what it is like without a car.

We liked that the park stayed open late and you could just walk there easily. espcially as it was a bit hot during the day and cooler and more bearable in the evening to do the rides. There seemed to be various dinner options in the park so as we like food good for us!. However, a colleague at work went last June but was not keen, so not for everyone.

Hello Debs....
Thanks for reading my trip report (thanks to Claire and Nat for suggesting;) ).
The trip to Barcelona is really easy on the train although the trains aren't that frequent. The train company is RENFE, here is the link to their website where you can find timetables.
http://www.renfe.es/horarios/english/index.html
The station is Port Aventura and the central Barcelona station closest to the harbour/port is Barcelona Sants station.
The journey takes 1hr 30mins at the most. Barcelona Sants is a very modern station and you'll get lots of help there and also on-site at Port Aventura too, staff at the hotel were very friendly:goodvibes
We really enjoyed our stay at the El Paso, this hotel is nearest to the station, and close to the parks. The Port Aventura Hotel itself is the closest to the parks being right next door. The Caribe hotel is the furthest away (ten minute walk rather than a five minute walk).
Not sure about the ages of the members of your groups but there really is something for everyone at Port Aventura - especially thrill rides:)
We wouldn't hesitate to go back and I think it's a great idea to go there before your Disney cruise. My girls talk about the holiday all the time and ask when they're going back:rolleyes:
If you have any specific questions, please PM me and I'll be more than happy to help:)

THank you so much for all your help, I think we'll definitley spend a couple of days before the cruise, my son would love it!
I read somewhere that they are getting a Wild West Theme hotel there soon.....does anyone have any details or know when it is opening?!

They are building a new hotel - didn't realise that was what it was going to be. I'd say from progress that I saw that it won't be open until at least late 2009. It's situated behind the waterpark.
