My family likes TL and BB better than all of the other Disney Parks. Next year our vacation will include only 1 of the other parks (probably Epcot) and the rest of the time spent at TL (2 days), BB (2 days) and probably we will stay at Yacht or Beach Club so we check out the Stormalong Bay mini-water park there. Has anyone stayed there, how is Stormalong Bay??

Very little seems to be written about the water parks, tips, secrets, etc... So I am hoping that we can give each other tips & ideas and learn things we didn't know about the parks.

I'll start with this great tip that we learned from one of the lifeguards on the TL lazy river. Go to park when it first opens (opens 1 hour early for resort guests), instead of heading straight to the slides as most others do, be one of the first ones on the Lazy River.

I take DS (7) who loves to wear goggles and go underwater. It is totally amazing the amount of money you will find in the Lazy River. We averaged $5-$15 per day in change. Be sure to bring something to put all of your money in or purchase one of the waterproof plastic things to wear around your neck that are sold in the gift shops.

Lifeguard told us that people throw money off the bridges to make wishes when they leave at night. So check near the bridges. Also, check at each area where people get on/off, money tends to come out of their pockets when they get on/off innertubes. Also check near the big jets, where water runs fast, we noticed money tends to get stuck right under those areas. Hard to dive down there, but my DS grabs ahold of my leg and hangs on as he goes down. The most money is to be found first thing in the morning, but keep checking all day long, it's still there!

Note to parents: If you have kids that love to dive underwater this definately gets them off the big slides. Gives you a break, because you get to float along the river while they look for money!! Also, pays for snacks or if you're lucky lunch at the park that day!

Wow, thanks for the tip.
DD always wants to get the money out of fountains but i don't let her. This i would let her.
WE are big waterpark fans but pikers compared to you. We will do half themepark half waterpark this next trip.
Blizzard Beach 1 day
Typhoon Lagoon 1 day
Storm-a-long Bay 1 day (staying at BCV on rented points for 6 days).
1 day USF/IOA but with access to their pools also-Made my Mom reservations at RPR.
Their pools are very nice. USF also has a very big water play, ball play are. Even my 13 yr. old was having fun.
1 day MK
1 day Epcot/MGM

For waterpark lovers SAB is the best hotel pool of all but still only a patch on a waterpark.
Nickolodeon supposed to have a lot of good kid pools also.

WE went to Schlitterbahn one year and hope to return. Their wave pool and river were combined. Awesome! Also want to go to their new park in South Padre Island where you can ride innertubes up locks instead of climbing stairs, they called it "transportainment".

I highly recommend going to TL & BB when they first open. There is hardly anyone there and the first couple 2-3 hours virtually no wait on the slides at all. Most of the people seem to do just what your family does, go to a theme park in the morning and water park in afternoon. It really didn't start getting crowded until about 1:00. We went during Spring Break (first week in April).

My family just loves the water, but we live in the Pacific NW and have a rather limited choice of pools, most indoor, and pretty small. So even Stormalong Bay would probably seem pretty big to us.

Went to a new public pool that opened about 20 miles from our home. I warned the kids "this is not a Disney waterpark!". When we walked out from the locker room, we all burst out laughing! The "Lazy River" was about 100 feet in length and contained about 8 innertubes. About 40 kids were running in a circle with the current, they looked like little rats running in a wheel! We still had a lot of fun, but the look on everyone's face was priceless!

Would love to go to Schlitterbahn ever since I seen it on the Travel Channel as the #1 water park in the US. How does it compare to TL & BB??

BTW we went to Curious George water play area last year at Universal & DS loved it! I think we are just hooked on anything water!

Actually it is half the days at themeparks, half the days at waterparks. A half a day at a waterpark wouldn't be enough.
My first waterpark was the one between Tacoma and Seattle. We live on Cape Cod now and have a small waterpark nearby, Water Whizz, but only a short summer season to enjoy it. A lot of the summer days aren't warm enough.
Its been a while since we went to Schlitterbahn. The rides seemed larger and longer than the Disney parks. But a look at their website could give the current info. They rent rooms right in the park, something like 30 feet from the Lazy River. And part of their Lazy River was actual river!
