I've got good news and bad news. Let's start with the good. Anyone who is a vegetarian and is planning on taking a cruise, don't fret. There is plenty to eat. The biggest surprise was the veggie burgers served on deck 9 at Pluto's. They were pretty good most of the time. I did get one that tasted as if it was sitting in the warmer for 2 days. A little crunchy on the edges. The suppers were fantastic! I was thrilled that the "vegetarian meal" was a salad. The biggest surprise was the cabbage lassagna. I made a yucky face to Alex (the greatest server on the ship!) but I tried it, knowing I would never get a chance to eat this again. Not being a huge cabbage fan, I was quite pleased. I remember one night not wanting fried eggplant and they took the scallops off of one dish for me. I tried ordering off of the kids menu, but Alex refused to let me. I did insist on one thing, the vanilla brownie served on Thursday I believe. Folks, grab this and run! It's awesome!!!
Palos was also great for both the brunch and supper. Hopefully you will get Kristian as your server. He too is awesome. So have no worries, you will dine with no problems. Unless you are a vegan. Then you will have to work around some things. Shouldn't be too hard though. Just ax the cheese some things. Too bad you will miss out on that risotto! Mama Mia!!

Now, if you have vegetarian kids...BEWARE!!!!
As soon as I signed up my kids to the club, I told them my kids were vegetarians. It is very important that they don't get any meat served to them as they will think it is vegetarian. Guess what?? They gave my daughter a corn dog!!!! Needless to say, she got very sick. Just an FYI.

Was the cabbage lasagna on the 7-day? That sounds like something I would love! I am a wanna be vegetarian who just cannot wean herself off meat. My hubby likes his flesh, but on one trip he decided to try all the veggie entrees so he could review them for our website. He ended up enjoying them so much that several, like the Triton's veggie stack and the curry have become "regulars" for him.

I'm shocked. Okay, maybe not, but I want to be shocked. A request like yours should be at the top of the we've-got-to pay-attention-to-this- list. Did anyone acknowledge there humungous error?

I am veggie and so are my kids. We have had tofu corn dogs on occassion so I think my kids would have thought they could eat the corn dog as well :(. Thanks for the warning I may have them not eat out of my sight.

Hi!
For the record, I'm a vegan and I had no problem getting plenty to eat on our last cruise! They were very good about accommodating me.

My kids (5 and 9 at the time) do not eat meat, but they do eat chicken and fish. The kids buffet at Beach Blanket had plain pasta, french fries and vegetables. So, there are alternatives to meat and even chicken.

Also, Scoops has a really good veggie wrap sandwich and Pluto's has a veggie burger!

Hi Barb!
I believe the cabbage lassagna was on Friday night. I hear they don't make it every cruise. From the sounds of it, they change the vegetarian menu around. Next time you are on, you might want to mention it to them early on and they can prepare it. Seems like you are in like flynn with most of the people. :)

Yes, I did get a call from the head councelor. She said sorry a bunch of times. Very lucky it wasn't a peanut allergy or something! Yikes!

After that horrible situation with Paris and the infamous corndog, I made sure I walked up to check on her lunch while she ate with them. I didn't have to worry though because she wouldn't get near anything that even resembled "meat". In fact, it's hard to get her to eat here at home. Another thing that happened after this is the councelors would yell to everyone that "Paris is a vegetarian and does not eat meat!!!" across the whole club. Kids walked up to her and asked her why she doesn't eat meat. I am so glad that this is an easy subject for her to handle. It's usually one of the first things she talks to anyone about. So go ahead, make sure you get a medical note to double up on your information about being a vegetarian and you should be ok after her situation.

Chip:
When did you go on a cruise and get a veggie wrap at scoops? I'm so jealous!! Well...they may have had them, perhaps I didn't notice them behind the mounds of ice cream. heehee
