calling all vegetarians - is the meal plan worth it?

I have never found eating at Disney to be difficult. They have some amazing chefs working there. Even if you do not see something on the menu you can send a request to the chef and they will always make something extra special for you. However, I have never used the meal plan as there are not a lot of resturants I would normally choose. I eat very little if any fast food and we like to try the special places for dinners or character breakfasts and a lot of these places are not on the list. I would recommend making a list of the places you really want to try and then comparing it to the meal plan. We are biased though because we almost always stay in DVC rooms with kitchens so we don't have to eat out for every meal. I estimate this saves us about $100-$200 dollars per day. I know that sounds crazy but it adds up: breakfast for three $60, water and snack in the park for three $35, lunch in the park for three $80 mickey bars for three in the park $25 (well we would probably get this anyway! :mickeybar ) This is $200 versus the $100 worth of groceries you could buy at publix fo rthe week and you still go out and have a fancy dinner at the castle or something (another $150 – Oi!).
Good Luck!
