I am up in the air on this one! We arrive on Sept 11 at the Pop around 1 PM and only stay onsite for 2 nights & then go offsite (Horizons by Marriott). Therefore we have two days to eat like kings on the dining plan. I panicked and made some ADRs this morning:

9/11 Chef Mickeys 5:40 PM
9/12 O'hanas for Dinner 5:45
9/13 Breakfast at The Crystal Palace 8 AM
9/13 Whispering Canyon dinner at 5 PM

Now I'm second guessing myself. For example, I don't want to have such an early ADR on the day we're checking out of POP because we'll have to pack up before heading out for the day, right?

Also, will we want to plan Ohanas for a night (the 12th doesn't) that has Wishes going on and closer to that time? Should we go to the WCC the first night since we might not feel like going into the park on our arrival day?

Can you tell I'm not into planning this right now - I just want someone to tell ME what's the best plan. I am sold on the choices of places at least! That's one good thing.:goodvibes

I think you're fine. You won't have to go into a park to eat at Chef Mickey's either, so that won't be a problem for your first night.

And after your dinner at 'Ohana, go back to Pop and pack up. You can drop your bags at guest services in the morning, whatever time you head out to get to your Crystal Palace breakfast.

Just because I wouldn't want to rush the morning of check out I would try to make the CP ressie for 9-9:30am. That way you can pack and check out without stress. JMO! Otherwise looks good.

are you buying the deluxe plan, or anticipating that Free DDP will be offered?

If you are doing deluxe, you don't have enough reservations, if you are anticipating free DDP you have too many table service.

Further, booking reservations in anticipation of adding free DDP to your reservation is not a good plan, as it is not an add on to an existing package... you have to cancel your existing reservation and rebook. The number of rooms this offer will be attached to are limited.

Free DDP is an incentive to get heads in beds during the "slow" season if WDW looks at the reservations book and sees that they have enough heads in beds then they have no reason to offer the incentive.

So you have perhaps shot your self in the foot, twice.

I actually am not "waiting" for free dining OR have the deluxe. I will keep these ressies either way, because it's where we want to eat. If free dining comes out however, that's great! If not, we're still going to have some nice meals for the first few days. After that our off-site has a full kitchen and we'll be eating there mostly.

ALSO - If free dining came out...what's to stop us from paying cash for the kids & using the TS for an extra dinner - we've done it before and the fine print I read says it's more than okay to do it. So... not technically "too many" table service. :goodvibes
